How’s this for doing things by the book? Toyota Motor Philippines is taking an extreme approach and recalling 1,666 first-generation Toyota 86s and 170 GR Supras for, get this, a missing sticker. Yes, that’s right—a sticker.
A total of 1,666 first-generation Toyota 86 sportscars produced from April 12, 2012 to April 9, 2021 (basically the number of 86s sold locally) and 170 units of the GR Supra produced from March 29, 2019 to June 5, 2020 are being called back to dealerships because they’re missing an Emissions Control label.
Take note: there’s nothing mechanically wrong with the affected vehicles, and this is simply the case of having them be compliant with the local product standard and laws. Along the way, everyone is reminded that Toyota is schooling every other car brand out there on how to handle recalls and campaigns. Kudos to their transparency.
Toyota says the fix will have the dealers install the Emissions Control label on the 1,836 affected units at no extra cost to customers.

ReplyDeleteNo MT, but the more powerful 3.0 inline-6 (382 horsepower) was made available but only a handful of units were brought in.

No recall for the GR86 with regards to the RTV silicone blocking the oil passage and destroying the engine?
ReplyDeleteThose were with the US units...ours probably aren't included. Even Subaru hasn't announced any issue with the BRZ.
