Honda Unveils Refreshed 2024 Brio Sub-Compact Hatchback

Honda is not taking the news of the all-new Toyota Wigo sitting down. Just launched in Indonesia, the Japanese carmaker has refreshed the Brio sub-compact hatchback.

The sub-compact hatchback’s first update since 2018 (it was launched in the Philippines in 2019), the new Brio gets cosmetic changes inside and out in a bid to keep things fresh.

Still available in both RS and non-RS (Brio Satya for the Indonesian market), they both offer revised styling. Outside, the 2024 Brio RS sports a new dark chrome diamond grille (similar to the HR-V RS Turbo), LED headlights and front fog lamps, smoked taillights, revised bumpers, and dark chrome 15-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the non-RS Brio / Brio Satya receives a new grille with a chrome highlight, revised halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights, and new 14-inch alloy wheels. Two new colors, Stellar Diamond Pearl and Electric Lime Metallic join the palette.

All Brio variants receive an all-black interior, digital type AC controls, auto up/down driver window, and an illuminated shifter indicator for CVT variants. The Brio RS has a new gauge cluster with a multi-information display, an updated 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a smart key entry with push button engine start/stop.

Mechanically, the new Brio remains unchanged. This means it’s still powered by a 1.2-liter SOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine making a respectable 90 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. Depending on the variant, it’s available with the same transmission options: a 5-speed MT or a CVT.

With the Brio being made in Indonesia, it is naturally the first market to receive the refreshed hatchback. However, since the Philippines sources its Brio from the same factory, its arrival at local showrooms will just be a matter of time.

  1. Hope Honda Ph will price the Brio competitively. The current Brio, esp the TOTL, is much more expensive than its competitors. :(

    2. It's also mechanically better versus Celerio, Wigo, Mirage.

    3. But not against Picanto

    4. Because the Picanto's now at P 700K for the MT. The current Brio starts at P 680K for the MT. So no question...the Brio comes out as the better value car.
