Meet The 2024 e:Ny1, Honda's Second Fully-Electric Vehicle

After the Honda e, Honda has revealed its second fully electric vehicle, and this time, it’s a small SUV. Meet the 2024 e:Ny1 (Anyone, get it?)

Though it looks like a platform twin of the HR-V, Honda says this one rides on a newly-developed platform—the e:Architecture F. The front-motor-driven platform is focused on three attributes: a highly rigid body structure, a low center of gravity, and carefully managed underfloor aerodynamics all ensuring a fun but frugal drive.

An all-new chassis developed specifically for battery electric vehicles has ensured improved torsional rigidity – key to this is high-tensile steel, used across 47 percent of the e:Ny1’s body (by weight).

Powering the e:Ny1 is a lightweight three-in-one propulsion system which combines the drive unit, electric motor, and gearbox. In terms of output, it generates 204 horsepower and 310 Nm. Under the floor sits a 68.8-kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 412 kilometers of range. It’s also DC fast-charging capable helping it top up from 10 to 80 percent in just 45 minutes.

The Honda e:Ny1 closely mirrors the HR-V’s design aesthetic down to the hidden rear door handles and lighting elements. However, it does sport wider tracks, and Honda’s new all-electric identity: the white “H” badges. These are found on the nose badge, center caps, and steering wheel. Meanwhile, at the back, the tailgate spells out, “HONDA” a feature that will migrate to the brand’s other EVs.

Inside, the e:Ny1 offers an all-new center console with a large 15.1-inch touchscreen. The clever packaging of the drivetrain and batteries also allow it to have a cavernous interior room. Features include multiple storage options and wireless device charging.

No news whether Honda will offer the e:Ny1 outside of Europe, but a similar version will be launched for the Chinese domestic market as part of the carmakers push towards fully electric vehicles.

    1. No, this looks like the HR-V. The ZR-V is a Civic-based SUV that slots between the HR-V and CR-V. It's known as the HR-V in North America: https://www.carguide.ph/2022/05/civic-based-honda-zr-v-heading-to.html
