Built on the TNGA GA-K platform and based off the Toyota Grand Highlander, the Lexus TX measures in at 5,160 mm in length and 1,990 mm in width. With a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, the third-row can easily accommodate two adults while still providing a generous cargo hold with all seats up.

Lexus engineers worked to increase the overall rigidity by adding welds and adhesives to the TX. Moreover, the steering system and rear section have been strengthened. The adoption of a rear multi-link suspension, widened tracks, and wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 22 inches elevates driver engagement to Lexus Driving Signature levels.

Powering the Lexus TX is a choice between three powertrains including two electrified units. The base (and the only one offered with front-wheel drive) is a 2.4-liter turbocharged unit making 275 horsepower and 430 Nm, and mated to an 8-speed automatic. Going up, there’s a 2.4-liter hybrid turbo that ups the power to 366 horsepower and 554 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. A 3.5-liter V6 plug-in hybrid mated to a CVT caps off the line-up with 406 horsepower.

All-wheel drive variants benefit from Lexus’ DIRECT4 electronic all-wheel drive system that provides instant responses that no mechanical system can offer. Dynamic Rear Steering also enables the rear wheels to turn in the same direction as the front to give more stable response. The system turns the wheels in the opposite direction as the front for improved low speed maneuverability and a reduced turning circle.

Aside from a spacious interior, the Lexus TX offers a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay integration, while the driver has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. A 21-speaker Mark Levinson system delivers high-quality sound. In terms of seating, it’s available with a second-row bench seat or two individual captain’s chairs. Access to the third row is made easier with a slide assist walk-in mechanism. With a press of the switch on the seat shoulder, the seat tilts forward and the slide assist spring slides and folds the second-row seats.

With Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 standard, the Lexus TX adds peace of mind with every drive. The comprehensive suite of active safety equipment provides the brand’s highest level of driver support with features such as Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Road Sign Assist (RSA) and Proactive Driving Assist (PDA). These technologies are designed to help, for example, alert the driver of a pedestrian or vehicle in front of the vehicle or maintain a preset speed or following distance from a vehicle ahead.

The 2024 Lexus TX will be the first Lexus vehicle assembled at Toyota’s Indiana plant. It also is the first Lexus PHEV to be assembled in North America. Sales start there later this year with the plug-in hybrid going on sale much later.
