GAC Motor PH Launching All-New 2023 GS3 On June 30

There’s no slowing down for Astara, the exclusive distributor of GAC Motor in the Philippines. After launching the all-new GS8, EMPOW, and EMKOO in a span of six month, it will be adding yet another compact crossover to its line-up at the end of the month: the all-new GS3.

The compact crossover features a striking design filled with clean, taut lines. It focuses on sharpness and volume, complemented by its more generous dimensions which are 60 mm longer (4,410 mm), 55 mm lower (1,600 mm), and 25 mm (1,850 mm) wider than the outgoing GS3. The wheelbase has been stretched by 90 mm (2,650 mm), while the front overhang has been shortened by some 31 mm.

Upfront, the all-new GS3 has the “Armor Wing” face which was inspired by a motorcycle helmet. The headlights, on the other hand, are meant to convey the piercing look of “laser eyes,” while the rear triangular lighting elements emulate diamonds.

When it comes to the interior, the 2023 GAC GS3 is a “Mobile Loft” which gives would-be owners a relaxing and refreshing space. No word on Philippine specifications as of now, but in China, it is offered with features such as ambient lighting on the door cards, instrument panel, and air vents, and unique color combinations with light gray with orange, and even green too.

The wrap-around design of the door panels and dashboard, combined with a concave surface is meant to enhance the feeling of comfort and relaxation. All eyes focus on the crystal shifter as well as the propeller nozzle-inspired air outlets.

Powering the all-new GS3 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower. Mated to a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch, terminal velocity is pegged at 190 km/h, while fuel economy is an outstanding 14.7 km/L (highway).

Having adjusted the GAC EMKOO’s price downward for the Philippine market, the biggest question is where they’d position the all-new GS3 in their line-up. In its home market of China, the GS3 is positioned as the brand’s entry-level crossover. This could likely mean a SRP that tops out at just around P 1.3-million. The current GS3 1.5 GS (non-turbo) is priced at P 898,000.

  1. This GS3 is better than the EMKOO if its price below 1.2M. it's the Geely Coolray main competition.
