Here's Why Ford PH Managed To Move More Than 1,500 Territory SUVs In Just Two Months

After its Philippine debut at the Manila International Auto Show, Ford Philippines says the next-generation Territory SUV has been warmly received by Filipinos.

Priced starting at P 1.335 million, Ford says they’ve managed to move over 1,500 units of the Territory as of June. According to the carmaker here are the six features often cited by buyers as their reason for purchasing:

#1. More powerful yet fuel efficient: the Territory’s new EcoBoost 1.5-liter engine delivers 10 percent improvement in performance (160 horsepower, 248 Nm). Its Auto-Start Stop Tech also allows for better fuel economy in stop and go traffic.

#2. New transmission with new selectable drive modes: the new 7-speed wet-type dual clutch with a rotary e-shifter simplifies gear shifting thanks to a center console-mounted rotary dial. It also offers four selectable drive modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Mountain.

#3. Redesigned exterior: the all-new Territory’s Progressive Energy in Strength design gives it a more stylish exterior with its honeycomb grille, signature DRLs, and full LED headlights. It also has a longer wheelbase and ground clearance as well.

#4. Convenience and comfort-driven interior: the Territory’s long list of features include a wireless charger, a 12-inch colored touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and more. The Titanium X even includes an Air Anion Generator with PM2.5 monitoring to maintain a healthy air quality level inside the vehicle.

#5. Enhanced safety features: it comes equipped with new driver-assist features and technology such as Blind Spot Information System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Door Open Alarm, as well as Hill Descent Control and Enhanced Active Park Assist. The Titanium X variant offers even more ADAS such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Auto High Beam, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Aid and Collision Mitigation System. Both variants come with 360-degree camera.

#6. Free 5-year warranty: The Territory comes with a 5-year warranty, or up to 150,000 kilometers  whichever comes first.

  2. I think the current Ford Territory may still not be sold in right-hand drive (RHD) markets since the equivalent EcoSport was alreeady discontinued long before Ford ended all activities in the Indian market in 2021. But as I think Ford and Hyundai could partner with each other then maybe it could make sense for Hyundai to use and rengineer Chinese JMC technologies - the Territory is based on a JMC product - and then develop many or one of them for RHD markets like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Mauritius, Australia, NZ and NOT India (as I said a while ago that Ford no longer exist in the Indian market and also India has still problems with China too).

Also, Hyundai and JMC have in common since the tech they all use are were modelled from Mitsubishi Motors, and unlike Hyundai/Kia, JMC has advantage in rough conditions so it even made sense for the Chinese to disguise their products as an AMERICAN brand (just like South Koreans rebuilding Chinese phones with Apple technology)...

  3. Many years ago JMC don't know how to build proper SUVs . It's the reason why the partnered with Ford. Though Territory is made in china but all technical and mechanical components are led by ford management. Actually JMC mainly for making Trucks. Same with Toyota and Mitsubishi sharing building cars with GAC and Volkswagen with SAIC who made the MG and maxus vehicles for sale in the Philippines.

    1. Surprisingly, the technology JMC uses in their cars are actually old Mitsubishi engineering that were also found in Hyundai/Kia products, I also believe before that it could strongly make sense for Hyundai to partner with Ford again (Hyundai started its car manufacturing business with Ford in 1967 while Ford bought Kia to maintain Ford's presence in Asia-Pacific) so that in conclusion Hyundai could also trade its failing partnership with BAIC (Beijing Auto) for that of Changan/JMC (Changan and JMC are part of one) so that Hyundai/Kia could end up rebadging JMC products like the way Ford currently does. Also unlike how it is today, a Hyundai-Ford partnership with the help of JMC could even resurrect Ford's passenger car manufacturing in Southeast Asia (especially in right-hand drive Thailand and Malaysia only) since the Ford Territory isn't even offering an RHD variant of that model.... (As Hyundai may even refuse to market the Tucson just as Kia could do the same with Sportage in RHD Thailand means it could be a good thing for Hyundai/Kia to rebadge and rengineer the Territory but remodel them with Hyundai and Kia's design preferences however...)
