Based off the Renault Clio, the 2024 Colt rides on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-B platform. The five-door hatchback is a case of badge engineering except for minor changes to the grille, bumpers, and lights. Designers did manage to shoehorn the Dynamic Shield grille while still offering full LED headlights and L-shaped LED DRLs.

Powertrains are also shared with the Clio with the base version getting a normally-aspirated 1.0-liter with 66 horsepower and 95 Nm mated to a 5-speed manual. Going up, there’s a turbocharged mill offering 90 horsepower and 160 Nm. This one’s mated to a 6-speed manual. Finally, there’s a full hybrid HEV model that pairs a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors (an alternator-starter and a main motor) good for a combined 141 horsepower. The ICE delivers 148 Nm, while the electric motor pumps out 205 Nm.

For those who care about numbers, the base Colt does the century sprint in a leisurely 17.1 seconds. The turbo drops that down to a more respectable 12.2 seconds, while the hybrid does the same at just 9.3 seconds. Assuming there’s a flat enough piece of tarmac, the base engine tops out at 160 km/h, while the turbo and hybrid goes up to 180 km/h.

The interior is fitted with either a 7- or 9.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio system. Features on higher trims include ambient lighting, a 9-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless device charging. Advanced safety features include adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert, and even easy park assist.

Renault will start production of the all-new Mitsubishi Colt come September with European markets starting to get it towards the latter half of the third quarter of this year.
