BMW PH Opens Order Books For XM, M2 Coupe

BMW Philippines is now taking orders for two high-performance BMW M models: the first-ever XM and the all-new M2.

Spotted as new entries in the Virtual Showroom Page, these two BMW M models will likely make their local debuts very soon.

Starting with the bigger of the two offerings, the BMW XM is the first M standalone model from BMW M since the BMW M1.

The BMW XM is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that mates a newly-developed, high-revving V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine with an electric powertrain. As a result, the large SUV SAV delivers 652 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. There’s even a BMW XM Label Red with 748 horsepower and 1,000 Nm. It’s unknown which variant BMW Philippines will offer.

The extravagantly designed BMW XM was made to celebrate BMW M’s 50th anniversary. As such, the design is both forward-looking and divisive. The kidney grille features a gold surround and contour lighting. It also gains the split headlight design seen in the BMW 7 Series and BMW X7. As driver-focused as the BMW XM is, it’s got rear “M Lounge” seats which offer enhanced levels of comfort for the passengers.

So far, no official pricing has been made available on the BMW XM, but sources say it will be priced above the BMW M5 Competition (P 13.790 million).

On the other hand, the BMW M2 Coupe is a more traditional BMW M model in that it’s extremely driver-focused in its design and execution.

Harking back to the iconic BMW 2002 turbo, the BMW M2 packs a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine making 460 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. A redline of 7,200 rpm gives it an “emotionally rich” soundtrack as well. Globally, it’s available with an 8-speed automatic, and surprise, a 6-speed manual. The automatic is slightly faster though with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds and a 0 to 200 km/h time of 13.5 seconds.

The densely-packaged BMW M2 offers mixed wheel sizes (19s in the front, 20s at the back), sport bucket seats, and niceties including a 12.3-inch information display and a large infotainment screen.

As for pricing, the BMW M2 Coupe is expected to slow below the M3 Competition’s P 9.690 million price tag.

No official launch dates have been revealed as of yet, but customers can now book their reservations through these links: BMW M2 Coupe, BMW XM.
