Everything You Need To Know About The 2024 Toyota Wigo (w/ Specs)

Toyota Motor Philippines has introduced one of its most important new models of the year: the all-new Wigo. As Filipinos seek to become more mobile, the Wigo has proven to be a success story for the country’s number one carmaker. The second-generation model aims to build on that solid foundation by getting a top-down redesign and more tech-features than ever before.

The all-new Wigo gains a sportier-looking design with a stronger family resemblance to its bigger brother, the Vios. The larger grille now extends from the wide chrome accent all the way down to the bottom part of the front bumper. Slim horizontally-oriented LED headlights and vertically-oriented LED driving lamps, meanwhile emphasize its width.

In terms of colors, the Wigo comes in six shades:
  • Red Mica Metallic 2 – 1.0 G CVT
  • Orange Metallic 3 – 1.0 G CVT
  • Yellow SE – 1.0 E CVT, 1.0 G CVT
  • Silver Metallic 4 – 1.0 J MT, 1.0 E CVT, 1.0 G CVT
  • Gray Metallic – 1.0 J MT, 1.0 E CVT, 1.0 G CVT
  • White 2 – 1.0 J MT
Built on a brand-new architecture shared with the Raize and Avanza, the all-new Wigo has grown in every dimension. It measures in at 3,760 mm (+100 mm) in length, 1,665 mm (+65 mm) in width, and 1,505 mm in height. Wheelbase is now at 2,525 mm—longer by 70 mm than the outgoing Wigo. This translates to a larger cargo space, while retaining its comfortable passenger tandem distance of 910 mm.

Under the hood, the all-new Wigo gets the 1KR-VE 1.0-liter 12-valve DOHC 3-cylinder engine. Equipped with variable valve timing, it makes 67 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque. The transmission options are a 5-speed manual or a CVT.

Inside, the all-new Wigo features a cabin very reminiscent of the Raize. The horizontal motif offers a feeling of space, while also making room for features such as the free-standing 8-inch Display Audio system (except for the 1.0 J MT). The top-trim 1.0 G CVT also gets features like a keyless entry with push-button start-stop, digital-type AC controls, and a 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat.

In terms of safety, the Wigo receives dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control with hill start assist as standard. The 1.0 G CVT builds on that with a backup camera and a digital video recorder (dashcam).

The Wigo comes in three variants at the following prices:
  • Wigo 1.0 J MT – P 609,000
  • Wigo 1.0 E CVT – P 684,000
  • Wigo 1.0 G CVT – P 729,000

  1. What is exactly the difference between the E and G variants? Are there major enough differences between the two since all I see are just minor ones to me. If there is little differences, I see no point for the E variant to exist imho.

    1. Fender-mounted turn signals, rear spoiler, power folding mirrors, push-button start-stop, 6-way adjust driver's seat, digital-type climate control, 4 speakers, rear camera, alarm. These are basically the features you get in the G and don't in the E.

  2. I assume the J variant is equipped with steel wheels with cap?

  3. 729k wigo G that the 853k brio rs dont have are: stability control, hillstart assist, back up camera, push start button, DVR and driver height adjust. It only shows that the brio is overpriced and underspec. And then dears the raize E that is better on all aspects than the brio with almost same priced

    1. inline-4 yung brio RS compare to inline-3 than Wigo. If ano difference, medyo ma vibrate yung inline-3 compare sa inline-4 na smooth at comfortable.

    2. Missed to mention brio is a 1.2L 4 cylinder engine compared to wigo 1.0L 3 cylinder

  4. 16in wheels or 14?

  5. Wigo still uses that ancient dinosaur slow engine with interior materials similar to a 1990's Korean car 😂😂😂
Pass on this 3rd world slow DNGA Tincan
Suzuki S-Presso,Suzuki Celerio and Honda Brio are much better choices

    5. Wigo user here as well. 2018 model G variant. The Wigo is our family's pang harabas na sasakyan. I also used it as my daily car from March 2020 until October 2021 before I switched back to my trusty personal NP300 Navara. Our Wigo hasn't given us problems at all. Already at around 60k kms.

    6. @anon 4:01AM sabi mo walang maintenance???? Really? Or you just misused the term??? Never had your car change oil, change filters, cleaned brakes, etc???

  6. When its specs (J & E) is compared to the S-Presso, I think the Wigo would have just a slight advantage since it looks better and has LED headlamps. On the other hand Wigo G is way better than the Celerio, the former has rear camera and digital video recorder and less price. The front seats headrests of the Wigo are already adjustable.

  7. Good on Toyota PH for making stability control standard on all models even the J MT. While I would partially agree with the comments above regarding the rather lacking interior build quality of the DNGA products in the past especually since those breach the PHP1M mark, the Wigo's competitors around its same price range are not any better. In fact, the S-Presso has absolutely horrible interior build quality, and the ride comfort is awful while still having tons of body roll and poor inherent stability. The slightest gust will throw around the S-Presso in the expressway, and the S-Presso also feels like it has suspension made from plastic. The Brio is also surprisingly poorly built inside despite the Honda name (maybe just ever so slightly better than the S-Presso) but atleast it feels more solid over bumps and it doesn't get tyrown around as easily in the highway, plus the underpinnings doesn't feel like it would fall of anytime like the S-Presso. If the Wigo will be anything like its DNGA siblings, then I'd expect it to be a step above these two in terms of quality.

  8. Hindi dinala yung 1.2l kasi alam nilang maapektuhan yung raize. xD

  9. Barely any changes from the previous gen model, this one just looks better in the front with those full led headlights, not worth the price increase

    1. Yeah more of the same, panget parin brio while wigo looks chiseled n now looks like baby raize.

    2. Price increase is due to the new platform (DNGA-A), new transmission, and additional features not found on the Gen. 1.3 Wigo.

  10. I have a feeling that TMPC will bring the GR-S variant here that will have Toyota Safety Sense, the same 7 inch digital instrument cluster and the same 9 inch touch screen HU of the other DNGA badged Toyotas here. Lossibly it'll be ppwered by the same 1.0L engine or the 1.2L engine that powers the Raize. That would become the new top of the line variant.

Related to this, I also feel TMPC would also release a GR-S variant of the Raize Turbo that will have Toyota Safety Sense as well. Possibly it'll be powered by the hybrid engine that powers the JDM Raize and Rocky.

    1. Hindi kaya maging overkill yan para sa entry-level hb? Kasi malamang dumikit na sa presyo ng raize or higit pa kung sakali.

      Delete
    2. Not really. Kasi if you'll see the other ASEAN markets, merong GR-S variant ang Wigo that's fitted with a lot of features, Toyota Safety Sense included.

    3. People arguing about 1.0L and 1.2L. Both have crap performance and are put in a cheap car. They barely have any difference.

      Delete
    4. Alam mo naman kasi ang market, dumadami na choices pag umaangat ang price bracket. Pwede na sila mag subcompact na mas flexible sa range na yan.

      Delete
  11. Hopefully TMPC would, it'll be a loss if the GR-S couldn't make it here in Ph; the specs are great.

  12. Vios and Yaris left the group, they are already old, launched last 2013 and made facelifts twice to refresh the car.

    1. 1st gen Wigo was launched last 2014 yet it was able to had its full model change, even the current City is newer and recently had its first facelift. Our Vios is already left behind by its competitors.

    2. Toyota's Sta. Rosa assembly plant is being retooled to allow the assembly of the DNGA Vios. Dunno the timeline but the DNGA Vios will be launched here early next year at the latest.

  13. Buti pa older model mas advanced yung a/c knobs kc may pilian ng zones ung vents at may mainet just in case pero wala rito.

  14. Mas ok po ung New engine 1.2 WA-VE gasoline engine, 5 speed manual for all grades.

Ang mga needs for upgrade features for the variants.

All variants: Fin type Antenna, High-Mount LED Stop Lamp, Intermittent Rear Windshield Wiper w/ Reverse Link, Rear Spoiler, 4 Speakers, 7 SRS Airbags (Driver with Knee, Passenger, Side and Curtain Shield), Digital Video Recorder, Clearance and Back Sonar.

Power Adjust Outside Rearview Mirror (E, J); Power Adjust w/ Fold (G); with Side Turn Signal Lamp

Optional for J variant: 14 inch alloy wheel, 8 inch Display Audio w/ Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

  18. Instead of manufacturing the Wigo that is based out of date Daihatsu technology, Toyota should rather form an agreement with Renault and have the latter (Renault),sell off Nissan/Mitsubishi to the former (Toyota) so that Toyota would develop their emerging markets-only models with Geely tech...

    1. I Agree, But they Most Likely Will Not do that Because that the Wigo is Aimed at Making a Hatchback as Cheap and Budget-Friendly as Possible, Not Really Focusing Much on Quality But Just Aimed at Going from Point A-B.

  19. But Why Did TMP Not Adapt the 1.2 Litre Engine that The Agya Had from It's Release in Indonesia? Isn't the 1.0L Underpowered for the Hatch?

  20. I would rather buy a 2nd hand Corolla or Camry than buy this crap of a vehicle.

    1. The Corolla And The Camry Are Sedans Going to the Higher Market in The Philippines, The Wigo/Agya Is Sold as a -Budget- Hatchback Not Targeted Towards Space or Power, Instead Being Pointed to It's more Frugal Customers that Just Want To go From Point A-B in a Cheap Car.

I have bought my wigo august 2014. Mileage now is 242,000 km and i have changed my engine oil 10x since 2014. The only major part i’ve replaced is the clutch assembly (pressure plate & clutch disc). The old release bearing is still in you. I usually put unleaded gas from the small players because it’s cheaper. And i usually raced my car. My usual travel is going to baguio with my three children when visiting my two daughters in aurora hills. Up to now my car can reach a 100km per hour speed in just 13seconds. Before it was 12 seconds. Maybe you will be fascinated when you read my story. But these are true. I’m already 67yo and i have traveled 1,300,000 kms since i have acquired my license when i was 21yo.

  21. At this point, all Toyotas below 1.2-1.3M (except Altis) are just rebadged, under-specced, under-engineered cars that just use the Toyota brand name to hide what they really are and eke out as much profits as possible. A sad state that people are still buying these "Toyotas" because they're "reliable". Ugh. If I'm old-school in the sense of "I'd rather not get my money's worth and stick with the more established brands", I'd rather go for actual Hondas. Not some rebadged cheap barebones junk.
