The beleaguered Department of Tourism (DOT) has some good news as they renewed its partnership with Nissan Philippines to promote local tourism. Signing a Memorandum of Agreement last July 10, they are collaborating for a program called Drive Pinas.
The Drive Pinas initiative is the product of a long-standing relationship between Nissan Philippines and the DOT to promote local tourism and to showcase scenic tourist spots across the country. With the utilization of Nissan vehicles through drivable journeys, Drive Pinas aims to make traveling a more exciting, inclusive, and sustainable experience for both locals and tourists alike.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco was absent during the MOA signing, but was represented by her undersecretary, Myra Paz-Abubakar.
“Our nation is brimming with hidden gems, places that have yet to be fully explored and experienced. Drive Pinas will shine a spotlight on these extraordinary locations, enabling travelers to uncover their magic, immerse themselves in local culture, and forge unforgettable memories,” Secretary Frasco said in a speech delivered by Undersecretary Paz-Abubakar at the MOA signing event.
Delivering his opening remarks, Nissan Philippines Inc. President Juan Manuel Hoyos also shared his excitement over the new partnership with the DOT, saying that “While the Department of Tourism already has a strong vision to make locals and tourists alike love the Philippines even more—like I do—Nissan supports this vision with our commitment to creating innovative vehicles and technologies to add excitement to these journeys, all while leaving a positive impact on society and environment.”
Nissan Philippines and the Department of Tourism have collaborated on many projects in the past eight years., These include, “Visit the Philippines, Drive to Discover” and “Safe Trips.”
