The all-new Subaru Crosstrek has arrived at all authorized Subaru dealerships nationwide. As a replacement to the Subaru XV, the Crosstrek is Subaru’s entry-point model.
For the Philippine market, two variants are available at the following prices:
- Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-L – P 1,998,000
- Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-S – P 2,018,000
As an introductory offer, the Crosstrek comes with a P 150,000 discount for the 2.0i-S and a P 230,000 discount for the 2.0i-L. This effectively drops the prices of the two models to:
- Introductory Discount: Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-L – P 1,768,000
- Introductory Discount: Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i-S – P 1,868,000
The all-new Crosstrek communicates an outdoorsy personally backed up by a wide palette of colors. There are five new shades: Oasis Blue, Sun Blaze Pearl, Sapphire Blue Pearl, Horizon Blue Pearl, and Offshore Blue Metallic. This is on top of other returning colors such as: Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Pure Red, Magnetite Gray Metallic, and Crystal Black Silica.
The 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S is differentiated by their exterior accents with the 2.0i-L getting a gloss black grille accent and side view mirrors, while the 2.0i-S gets a chrome grille accent with dark silver sideview mirrors and roof rails. The 2.0i-L gets black 17-inch alloy wheels, while the 2.0i-S gets machine-cut 18-inch alloy wheels.
In terms of functionality, both models receive LED headlights with LED daytime running lights (with auto high-beam), though the 2.0i-S adds a steering responsive system and LED cornering lights for improved visibility at night.
Powering the Crosstrek is a normally-aspirated direct-injected FB20 2.0-liter Boxer 4 with 156 horsepower and 196 Nm—same as the outgoing Subaru XV. Power is routed through a Lineartronic CVT driving all four wheels. Zero to 100 km/h is quoted at 10.5 seconds, while top speed is listed at 198 km/h.
The interior remains just as roomy. The Crosstrek has a large cargo-space door opening as well as plenty of cargo-carrying space inside. Moreover, the 60/40 folding rear seats make it easy to expand the cargo space when loading bulky or long items into the vehicle.
Both variants receive a new seat design that mitigates the vehicle’s swaying motion from reaching the head. This results in a more comfortable ride, especially on uneven roads. The seat mounting structure has been changed too with the seat rails now attached directly to the body. This new approach increases mounting-connection stiffness and improves vibration damping while reducing seat sway, to provide a more comfortable, high-quality ride experience. Fabric seats are standard on the 2.0i-L, while the 2.0i-S gets leather seats with a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
In terms of infotainment, the all-new Crosstrek has a 11.6-inch portrait-style screen. Apart from standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (both offering wireless connection), it also comes with USB Type A and Type C connections. The 2.0i-S adds rear USB Type C ports for added convenience.
The third-generation model, codenamed “GU,” also sports a full suite of safety features including the new Subaru EyeSight 4.0. This enhanced version of EyeSight adds a monocular camera to the stereoscopic setup enabling a wider field of detection and adding abilities such as being able to automatically steer the vehicle away from a collision (Automatic Emergency Steering Assist). This means it achieves Level 2 self-driving.

I think it's clear that the established brands are leaving the budget segment to the Chinese since they can't really compete on the price anymore. So they end up doing this, going higher in the price range catering to the brand loyalists and existing owner base.
ReplyDeleteMiles better than the overpriced 2wd chevy trax
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
DeleteI hope Subaru brings in the Solterra next.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why most automakers are choosing CVT? Is it so that they could make more money since it's cheaper to produce?
ReplyDeleteSubaru seems selling lame duck engines, they were known to turbo flat 4.
ReplyDeleteJust buy the HRV turbo and save hundreds of thousands
ReplyDeleteThere's already an introductory price / discount of Php150k and 230k already if you read the whole article in full - As an introductory offer, the Crosstrek comes with a P 150,000 discount for the 2.0i-S and a P 230,000 discount for the 2.0i-L.
DeleteThey always try to make this a "premium" brand when they can just offer it at the 1.7-1.8M throughout and have just small discount of 20k-50k like other brands. They might have more sales and they would be considered more when people shortlist cars based on SRP.
King kuchi kuliglig didnot even noticed the 150k n 230k discount on the article. - only shows that his mouth is faster than his brainðŸ¤ðŸ¤ðŸ¤
DeleteDid they replace the 360 camera with the rear view camera?
