Toyota Teases All-New 2024 Land Cruiser Prado

After revealing it in its upscale Lexus GX form, Toyota has started the teasing the all-new, next-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Not much is known officially, except that it will mark the return of the Land Cruiser nameplate in the United States.

Fourteen years since its full model change, the all-new Land Cruiser Prado is expected to be a more mainstream version of the Lexus GX. Based on the teasers, they look to share the same exterior body panels. This will give the legendary off-roader a boxy silhouette that will aid in off-roading.

The Lexus GX uses either a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 or a 2.4-liter turbo hybrid. For the Land Cruiser Prado, it’s expected to be offered with a turbo diesel powertrain as well. The likely candidate would be the just-announced mild-hybrid version of the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV used in the Hilux.

In terms of platform, the Lexus GX and Land Cruiser Prado will share the body-on-frame TNGA-F platform. Key features include an electric power steering system and E-KDSS or Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. The Lexus GX also receives full-time all-wheel drive and an available rear locking differential. These will likely be standard issue on the Land Cruiser Prado as well.

Toyota hasn’t given the exact timing of the all-new Land Cruiser Prado’s launch date, but given that the teasing has begun, expect it to be fully revealed within the next few months.
