Leading up to its Philippine launch on September 13, Honda has revealed that its all-new, sixth-generation CR-V compact SUV has managed to score a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.
The ASEAN NCAP notes the CR-V’s “amazing performance in all of the assessment categories under the 2021-2025 protocol.” It managed to score 39.31 out of 40 in Adult Occupant Protection, 17.97 out of 20 in Child Occupant Protection, 18.57 out of 20 in Safety Assist Technology, and 11.32 out of 20 in Motorcyclist Safety. This is enough for it to garner a 5-star rating in each category. Its overall score is 87.16 out of 100.
The sixth-generation CR-V tested by ASEAN NCAP has standard equipment of eight airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for frontal and rear seats occupants, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Auto High Beam (AHB), Pedestrian Protection technology and Child Presence Detection (CPD) across all its variants. The model also offers advanced safety assist technologies either as standard or optional fitment namely Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Driver Attention Monitor (DAM) in the form of Honda Sensing, and Blind Spot Visualization on the passenger side via Honda LaneWatch.
The latest CR-V also offers technologies than can prevent collision with motorcyclists namely BSV, AEB, and FCW for Motorcycle. In addition, ASEAN NCAP also notes that the CR-V comes with CPD, an alert system to the driver that prevents instances of children being accidentally left inside the car.
Honda CR-V is the fourth of its SUV line-up that is being assessed under the more stringent ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol.
Throughout the CR-V’s history, it has consistently provided additional safety features to the consumers. The fourth-generation CR-V was first tested in the ASEAN NCAP in 2014 helping it achieve a 5-star rating. It then became the first model to be assessed under ASEAN NCAP 2017-2020 protocol where it netted a 5-star rating.

Sad that Honda gives all that safety and tech in their reliable brand but still Toyota sells so much even with rebadged, low-quality, tincan, no--global-safety-rating cars. I hope the average Filipino buyer wakes up and looks towards other brands. Toyota sales people and the leadership are getting cocky and unscrupulous with their attitude and selling practices.
