China surpassed Japan to become the world’s largest vehicle exporting country in the first half of this year, according to data from trade groups of the two countries.
The latest tally of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) shows Japan’s vehicle exports rose 17 percent year on year to 2.02 million in the first six months.
By contrast, automakers in China shipped 2.34 million vehicles overseas in the period, a jump of 77 percent from a year earlier, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAMA).
For the same period, the value of China’s vehicle exports spiked 110 percent to USD 46.4 billion, CAAM said this month, drawing on customs data.
China’s vehicle-export surge was driven by overseas demand for electrified vehicles including full electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
In the first half, exports of electrified vehicles from China soared 160 percent to some 534,000 units.
In 2022, with vehicle exports surging 54 percent year on year to 3.1 million, China eclipsed Germany as the world’s second largest vehicle exporting country.
That is because China has all the Russian market to itself. No one else can sell cars there

It just me, i think now and in a decade or two japs dominate on hybrids and china and tesla will dominate on EV'S. japs n kpop will be able to catch up on EV's, european car brands too late on EV race and will be overwhelm even on EV luxury segment and will just fade into oblivion. US car brands will be able to compete thru mexico.
ReplyDeleteThe only way China will succeed thru and thru if the people will evolve over time. Right now they have become successful because of their JV partners. They’re learned and copied a lot. However they arent forward thinkers like the Europeans which needs paradigm shift such as culture and political. Their growth will eventually be in a diminishing rate if they don’t evolve
ReplyDeleteChinas advances on future tech and dear economy as a whole will be hampered by the west tech embargo. Even now, foreign business/manufacturing in china are starting to diversify into vietnam, thailand, india, etc. China will not n never be the same again as world products factories. Businesses trajectories now are - made in china for chinas market, and made in other countries for world market. But on EV's which not so high tech and not so complicated to make, dear way ahead and will dominate in at least a decade or two.

The geely coolray was released in late 2019. You mean to say that geely can become "laspag" in 3 to 4 years? Well, that really tells you about the quality of chinese cars. 🙊

ReplyDeleteOther than that, their cars are ok. All european car designers are employed by them-hence the similarities in design.They now outsold tesla and volkswagen in terms of sales. They can make cars with full tech and features way way cheaper than their counterparts. The consumer wins.
China ICE cars definitely not good, china BYD EV's are good.
