It’s sort-of-official. After being driven in Vietnam by a couple of motoring journalists (us not included), the first batch of Ford Everest Wildtrak units have arrived in the Philippines. This ends speculation as to whether they’d be offering this ruggedized version of the 7-seater SUV.
In a surprise twist, Ford Philippines is offering the Everest Wildtrak in a 4x2 configuration and will only be available in limited quantities (as little as 30, according to some sources). It will serve as the Everest’s new top 4x2 trim placing it above the Titanium+ 4x2.
Priced at P 2,369,000 or P 160,000 more than the Titanium+ 4x2. It gets the “Wildtrak” exterior and interior appearance pack. The aesthetic enhancements are found in the Bolder Gray-colored bumper H-bar, grille surround, wheel lip moldings, fender vents and mirror caps. It also gets unique Asphalt Black 20-inch alloy wheels and the option of an exclusive color: Luxe Yellow. For those who find it a bit too loud, it also comes in Meteor Gray, Absolute Black, and Sedona White. The “WILDTRAK” lettering adorning the hood completes the exterior changes. Inside, it gets Cyber Orange stitching on its leather seats and a soft-wrapped dashboard sporting the same accent color.
Feature-wise, the Everest Wildtrak 4x2 takes on most of the features found in the Everest Titanium+ 4x4 such as Matrix LED headlights, a 12-inch TFT gauge cluster, tire pressure monitoring sensors, and a complete set of advanced driver assist tech such as: AEB support, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keeping aid with lane departure warning, automatic high beam, blind spot information system with rear cross traffic alert, reverse brake assist, and a 360-degree camera.
In terms of powertrain, the Everest Wildtrak 4x2 receives the same combo found in other Everest 4x2 variants: single-turbo 2.0-liter diesel engine making 170 horsepower at 3,500 rpm and 405 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,000 rpm. Its transmission is a 6-speed automatic (read our review of the Everest Sport 4x2 using the same powertrain).
What do you think of the features and price?
Finally, a TOTL 4x2 Everest with ADAS. Shame about the limited quantities though, and the single turbo engine, despite the decent outputs on paper, feels taxed carrying the Everest's portly weight. The bi-turbo engine should have been the engine for the entire Everest lineup.
ReplyDeleteBi-turbo, but give me the 6-speed AT over the 10-speed AT.
DeleteAgree with the 2.0L bi-turbo with 6AT setup. The 10AT in ranger wildtrak is a bit jerky specially during traffic hours as the tranny is hunting gears. Though it's powerful and a bit fuel efficient in the open or provincial highway.
DeleteLimited quantity? -> probably testing the waters.
ReplyDeleteMontero Sport GT 4X4 is much cheaper and a much better choice than this one.
ReplyDeleteEverest Platinum next please!
Ew, old school everything and with that crying taillight design? No thanks.
DeleteThat said, Ford has reliability headaches.
People who says ford have reliability issues usually never tried ford and are basing their statements on hearsay
DeleteYes agree! Those are diehard fans of japanese brand and used to read negative comments about ford but they haven't own one hahaha (not all but most of them).
DeleteFord Fiesta DCT, Ranger previous-gen, Territory 1st gen. All had problems -- recalls, transmission, suspension, electronics, casa issues.
DeleteDon't believe? Then I guess you haven't owned a Ford then? Or not a member of their respective FB groups/forums? Lmao. Ignorance is bliss.
^
DeleteHearsay.
Own a Ford first before bashing them.
How’s the after sales service of ford?
ReplyDeleteTo be honest a bit crappy. But so are the other brands here, including Toyota.
DeleteHit or miss. Regardless of brand.
Delete2.0L even if its turbo is miniscule and wont last long with that heavy weight. And ford was never known for reliability/durability,
ReplyDeletePlease share your experience with your ranger wildtrak or everest so that we can learn. Thanks
DeleteFord still has a beef with you guys?
ReplyDeleteYeah. Seems they're only supportive of publications that give favorable reviews. Been trying to get my hands on the all-new Territory. Deadma.
DeleteNa trauma ata haha. But you sing high praises of the Everest recently (long after you murdered their previous gen Territory) so should be all is well? Perhaps Ford is not confident to lend you the new gen Territory afterall.
DeleteIt's really weird because other reviewers don't want to publicly admit it in their reviews but among the observations they had with the new Territory include: pudgy handling, poor brakes, jerky transmission. Again, these are purely anecdotal since I can't seem to borrow it. I was able to borrow the Everest and Ranger though.
DeleteJerky transmission + DCT.. it is all too familiar. It's been so long already yet Ford still hasn't properly built their DCTs, pathetic. I even thought Ford did the right thing by moving away from DCTs in their normal cars after the whole Powershift fiasco, but they just brought it back anyway without even fixing it.
DeleteChina cars love jerky dct, even GAC whuch used to have the reliable aisin 6 sped has going dct. Except geely, almost all china cars here has clunky jerky dct
DeleteChinese manufacturers know that DCTs are crappy and won't last. These guys built cars with a limited lifespan in mind. A ticking time bomb.
DeleteDisposable indeed...
DeleteI had a 2014 ranger xlt door latch broken door wouldn't close. My other ford fiesta automatic doesn't want to move. Both casa maintained I live 300m away from ford dealership. Owned multiple brands lahat may problems but not as much and as bad as two fords. Baka sa iba ok but for me I'm done with ford.
ReplyDeleteLahat naman ng car brands may issues even Toyota specially with their daihatsu rebadge units. We have 3 Ford vehicles in the family and no issues naman. We enjoy the current ranger wildtrak bi-turbo. We have a 2015 ford fiesta and running good until now no issues naman. It's a matter of preference kaya huwag lahatin cgro if saan ka masaya doon ka it's your own money anyways.
DeleteBasing on these 2 comments, Ford is a 50:50 brand issue-wise? 😂
DeleteAs much bad rep the Ford Ranger and Everest has due to their poor reliability, one thing I cannot fault them is their chassis engineering and tuning. Specifically the Ranger, I haven't really witnessed or heard negative feedback about the chassis durability, yet somehow it is still one of the most composed and settled to drive and one of the most comfortable rides in its class despite the rear leaf springs. And despite being one of the most comfortable chassis, it is still capable of hauling properly heavy stuff, even overloaded, without losing too much rear suspension travel and suffering mechanical issues (Unlike the 4th gen Strada and the Nissan D40 which had chassis issues when overloaded). Somehow, this all feels like witchcraft pero sana naman they apply the same to their drivetrains and electronics which have had less than stellar reputation lol
ReplyDeleteAnother guy who relies on hearsay and is clearly without any personal experience with Ford.
DeleteFord fanboi. Take off your blinders if you don't wanna hear "hearsays"
DeleteYour statements fo not have credibility if it is based on hearsay and not personal experience.
DeleteWe got our Wildtrak Everest last week and some random issues on the computer messages (which also did not continously appear, but still it was worrying as it was only 3 days old), so it was serviced for 6 hours (i waited grabe). So they updated the software of the computer and ther 360 cam. Its a pain to have these issues but thats the price to pay for electronics with mech.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, its a great ride. looks good in Snowflake Crystal White (not Sedona White as per article) with gray accents. Its a hulking car for me (im a woman) but so easy to drive. Gives power when overtaking. Just enough for city driving and huge confidence driving that week when flooding in certain parts of the metro happened.
As for servicing, Toyota is also a hassle mind you, but its so near our house, I can just leave the car at the casa. Also, the parts are very easy to source myself and I just need to bring to teh nearest Shell, Rey Electrical, or Car Aircon SC, and its much cheaper. However, the servicing of electronics has also gone up with Toyota (maybe not as much as Ford though).
