Mark your calendars: Honda Cars Philippines is launching the highly-anticipated sixth-generation all-new CR-V on September 13. The latest-generation compact SUV marks a significant step forward for Honda in both their efforts towards electrification and connectivity.
Making a milestone, the e:HEV full-hybrid system is available in the all-new CR-V for the first time. The technology seamlessly blends the robust prowess of a 2.0-liter engine with dual electric motors. With Honda’s latest hybrid system at its core, it achieves outstanding fuel efficiency (besting even plug-in hybrids in some cases), substantially reduces emissions, and maintains an exhilarating and dynamic driving experience.
In Thailand, where the 2024 CR-V made its ASEAN debut, this engine is good for a combined 207 horsepower (148 horsepower from the 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine and 184 horsepower from the dual electric motors). Peak torque is rated at 335 Nm from as low as zero rpm.
In addition to the pioneering e:HEV full hybrid system, the Honda CR-V is also first in the country to be offered with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine. This powertrain, available in the 1.5 V Turbo CVT and 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD makes 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm.
Speaking of variants, Honda Cars Philippines will offer the all-new CR-V in three flavors:
- 1.5 V Turbo CVT – P 2,150,000
- 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD – P 2,300,000
- 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT – P 2,600,000
All variants of the all-new Honda CR-V will come standard with the latest generation of Honda Sensing driver-assist technology, which uses a front camera and radar to help detect cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians, and other road users effectively.
The all-new Honda CR-V will showcase advanced features, especially in terms of connectivity and safety, along with a premium new design inside and out.
Longer and wider than ever before, the 2024 Honda CR-V boasts larger proportions and a significantly broader stance. It’s ready to take the SUV segment to the next level with a sporty and strong exterior design in every dimension.
Interior-wise, the all-new Honda CR-V exudes premium with its high-quality materials, upscale touches, and greater visibility. Sporty, modern, and spacious are just some of the best words to describe its interior. The larger cabin also brings with it greater comfort for the driver and passengers alike.

Order books for the all-new CR-V are open at all authorized Honda dealerships nationwide. All reservations done until September 30 will have waived fees.

DeleteI dunno if these commenters ever drove the CRV Diesel. I own one, and I don't find it lacking in power. Kahit akyatan pa ng Baguio, walang kahihirap because it has that diesel torque. In terms of responsiveness, it is even way better than my 2023 Everest Bi-Turbo. In terms of comfort, iba pa din talaga ang CUV vs these PPVs. Night and day sa tagtag.

ReplyDeleteMuch has been written about the cost of adding ADAS to cars and I believe it isn't that much. Manufacturers will continue to tout the benefits of these systems and charge premiums as long as customers will pay. Moving out of the sub-2M price points and going head-to-head with RAV4 will undoubtedly limit the CR-V's appeal, not to mention giving the Hyundai Tucson more breathing space.
DeleteIt depends on the brand. Subaru says the cost of the EyeSight option was about P 50K. For sure, the monocular camera setup of the Honda Sensing system is bound to be cheaper.

ReplyDeleteOnly the gasoline variant has turbo. The hybrid is naturally aspirated.
DeleteTypically, hybrids are already boosted by the electric motor. For the CRV, the engine is Atkinson cycle which, power wise, is even a more conservative than typical Otto cycle engine. AND YET, the e:HEV (2.0 gasoline + 2 electric motors) provides significantly more power and torque than the 1.5 gasoline turbo.
DeleteNo variant below 2m, this new crv is expensive. For that price I would rather buy the top of the line Everest or Lexus nx just add a bit more. 2.6m crv hybrid must be loaded to the max.
ReplyDeleteAgree at this price the mid-level and top-of-the-line truck-based SUVs hold more appeal features and spacewise, on top of being diesels and not too far removed from the "porma" that attracts CR-V buyers.

DeleteI was waiting for the new CR-V, but pulled the trigger on the CX-5 AWD earlier this year. I'm no longer regretting that decision. Anyway, the "electrification" of the CR-V will leave a noticeable hole in Honda's local lineup. The gap between the HR-V and the CR-V will be big. Will Honda PH bring in the ZR-V to plug that hole? When Toyota PH "electrified" the RAV4, they brought in the Corolla Cross to fill the RAV4's former spot, will Honda PH follow suit?

DeleteRight now, I'd go purely 7-seater for the CR-V to differentiated it further. In fact, I would have gone so far to discontinue the FWD variant.
If I were their product planner, this is how it'll look like:

Honda ZR-V Low Variant
Honda ZR-V High Variant
Honda CR-V 1.5 AWD
Honda CR-V e:HEV AWD
To be fair, Honda already said earlier on that the CR-V will grow bigger and go more upmarket. The ZR-V fulfills the role of the CR-Vs of old and it does make sense to slot in the 1.7-1.9 million price bracket and fight the Tuscon + H6. Japan already did this by replacing the CR-V completely with the ZR-V. Only question is: will Thailand get it? I am not hearing rumors about this from other publications and importing the ZR-V from Japan will be DOA.

- Top choice: Mazda CX8 2WD (Php2.2M net of value of free 5 years PMS)
- Kia Sorento EX (Php2.3M net of cash discount)
- Hyundai Santa Fe (Php2.3M net of cash discount)
- Dark horse: GAC GS8 (Php2.3M net of cash discount)

DeleteOr if I may add a left-field suggestion in the hat (for those sitting on the fence of 2.6M): why not go all-out and get a Mazda CX-9? It's got the interior, amenities and cachet that CR-V buyers gravitate to. As I see it, asking 2.6M for a CR-V is problematic as buyers' minds will wander off with other cars they could buy instead. You've really got to want this or you're a loyal repeat Honda customer.

ReplyDeleteNah, crv climb the ladder but under 2m are hrv, brv and soon wrv here. Rav up 2m, under 2m are corolla cross, innova/zenix, mpv's, raize and now yaris cross. Hyundae has tucson, stargazer, creta And soon mitsu Xforce - established brand actually trying to beat chinese cars on der own game by offering affordable cars with comparable/ better features, specially on infotainment with focus on wireless apple carplay/android auto, which china cars dont usually have.. Besides china cars here are increasing prices. So far Only subaru n mazda going upmarket
