Under its new bosses, Inchcape, Mercedes-Benz plans to play catch up in the premium battery electric vehicle (BEV) space in the Philippines. Teased through their social media page is a shadowy vehicle with the copy, “Get ready for the new era of sustainable luxury.” Check out the post below.
Of course, Mercedes-Benz Philippines has purposely kept details of the vehicle in question carefully concealed, but based on the lighting signature and silhouette, it points to a strong possibility that the EQE EV SUV is arriving very soon.
The EQE EV SUV is Mercedes-Benz’s mid-sized all-electric SUV. The GLE-sized five-seater SUV combines function and aesthetics with the sporty character of the brand’s SUVs. The EQE EV SUV makes do without a traditional grille, going instead for a black panel unit—a trademark cue of Mercedes-EQ vehicles. LED Performance headlights are standard equipment, while at the back is a continuous light strip with LED lights curved and illuminated like a 3D helix. Wheel sizes range from 19 to 22 inches.
Riding on Mercedes-Benz’s modular architecture for large electric vehicles, the EQE SUV puts aerodynamics front and center. Its 0.25 co-efficient of drag is extremely low despite the large size and short rear overhang. It also results in one of the largest interiors in its segment. While its external dimensions are kept below 4.9 meters (4,863 mm to be exact), its wheelbase stretches to 3,030 mm.
Inside, the EQE EV SUV features a highly digitalized cabin. The entire instrument panel is a single-piece high-resolution screen, while at the center, there’s the possibility of specifying it with the MBUX Hyperscreen which merges three displays to create a screen over 141 cm (55 inches) wide. Without or without the MBUX Hyperscreen, the efficient EV architecture means there’s no transmission tunnel. Instead, Mercedes-Benz opted to dress it up with flowing leather and wood surfaces for a truly luxurious impression.
The Philippine spec powertrain is yet another closely guarded secret, but globally, the Mercedes-Benz EQE EV SUV comes in three variants: the EQE 350+, EQE 350 4Matic, and the EQE 500 4Matic. The sole rear-wheel drive variant produces 215 horsepower and 565 Nm, while the 4Matic versions produce 215 horsepower/765 Nm or 300 horsepower/858 Nm.
As for range, it goes from 480 to 590 kilometers for the EQE 350+, 459 to 558 kilometers for the EQE 350 4Matic, and 460 to 547 kilometers for the EQE 500 4Matic. With a 400-volt architecture, it can be charged up 170 kW on a DC fast charger. It takes just 15 minutes to add 220 kilometers of range. It can also be charged using a 11 kW AC wall box charger.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE EV SUV will likely make its debut sometime in this month.

ReplyDeleteThen, why can't people in the Philippines stop buying German cars (also Volvo, Aston, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Land Rover and other European cars except Ford cars) and trade them for not just Mazda cars? At least without the "G-Wagen" then half of the Filipinos would trade them for the Mazda BT-50 that's just a high-end Isuzu D-Max, well since Mazda is too small and too low on money to make so-called "EVs" therefore keeping the smell of fuel alive and kicking (just because of refusing to buy cars from Russia's eternal enemy Germany) means those Pinoys who avoid buying German and other European vehicles (plus Tesla and not Fords) would also buy second-hand and pre-Brexit era Mazda6 models (both generations) over European cars whose sizes are similar to the Mazda6 - the Mazda MX-5 (aka Miata in North America) has been recorded for being the longest-production sports car for many decades since its 1989 debut (as its the only thing Mazda does for themselves since the discontinuation of the RX-7 and RX-8) but also there are more Mazda products that would help Pinoys reflect from their breakup from "buying" and "appreciating" Euro cars like the Mazda3, Mazda CX-30, CX-5, CX-3, etc.
DeleteOn the top of that, there are other alternatives to German and other European rides that Filipinos would choose when the same people were to stop buying them for the sake of recognition, Nissan would be an example (since Nissan is still stuck in Renault hands however) but also Genesis (Hyundai's luxury brand), Hyundai, Kia, Toyota's Lexus, other Chinese brands and Subaru are examples I suggested... (Which is why Honda's Acura and Nissan's Infiniti didn't made into the Philippine market well although Infiniti once made into the Philippines but with only one model as Nissan instead sold the Cefiro only as a Nissan there since the Cefiro was marketed as the Infiniti I30 and Infiniti I35...)
Judging by the chrome grille surround design in the middle of the face of the vehicle in the shadowed teaser, it looks like it's gonna be the EQB that's gonna be launched first here unless they are gonna launch more than one EQ model in the country.

DeleteI say this because seeing as the newer EQS and EQE SUVs has no chrome grille surround on their "grilles", it's safe to assume that it's gonna be either the EQA or the EQB.
That hugeass logo in the front needs to go.
