Omoda 5 EV To Come With 8-Year Battery Warranty; Ten Driving Modes

After revealing a couple of its key specifications two months ago, Omoda Philippines has released more technical details surrounding its first EV offering in the country: the Omoda 5 EV.

Launching in the fourth quarter of this year (alongside a turbocharged version), the Omoda 5 EV will have an 8-year / 200,000-kilometer warranty for the battery, electric motor, and associated componentry, and a 5-year / 200,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Worry-free ownership aside, the Omoda 5 EV boasts of an ultra-low power consumption of 6.66 km/kWh. This brings its maximum range between charges to 450 kilometers. Its high-voltage architecture also allows it to be charged to 80 percent within 35 minutes. Built-in V2L (Vehicle to Load) capability enables it to power small household appliances too.

The single-motor driving the front wheels makes 224 horsepower. 0 to 100 km/h is claimed at 7.8 seconds.

The tech-laden Omoda 5 EV not only offers a highly digital cockpit with a curved 12.3-inch screen (larger than the previously announced 10.25-inch screen), but also ten driving modes: Camping, Energy-Saving, Sobering, Warming Up, Cooling, Welcoming, Karaoke, Haze, Pets, and Starting. For safety, the 5-star Euro NCAP/ANCAP-rated Omoda 5 will be backed up by 17 Advanced Driver Assist (ADAS) features (one more than previously announced).

No official price has been revealed for the Philippines yet, but Omoda is targeting a suggested retail price of below P 2-million for the Omoda 5 EV.
