Mazda Philippines widens its three-row SUV offering with the launch of the first-ever Mazda CX-90. Joining the CX-8 and CX-9 in the local line-up, the CX-90 blends performance and refinement into one genuinely crafted package.
“The first-ever Mazda CX-90 is the absolute pinnacle of Mazda premium; our most advanced model ever with exceptional levels of sophistication throughout that can be enjoyed not just by the driver, but the whole family,” says Steven Tan, President of Mazda Philippines. “It offers powerful and responsive performance, alluring design, and intuitive technology. The CX-90 is a breakthrough vehicle not just in its segment, but in our quest to become a brand with premium aspirations.”
The front-engine, rear-wheel-bias all-wheel drive layout elevates Mazda’s signature driving performance. It comes equipped with Kinematic Posture Control (KPC). KPC suppresses body lift on tight corners to enhance the grip and allows all occupants to maintain a natural posture. Focus is also put toward optimizing rigidity across the entire vehicle body, while designing the seats and suspension to provide better balance, control, and confidence in a range of driving situations.
Powering the CX-90 is the e-Skyactiv-G 3.3-liter inline-6 turbo engine. This electrified engine makes 284 horsepower at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2,000 to 3,500 rpm using 91 to 95 RON gasoline. The M-Hybrid Boost enhances efficiency without compromising on performance. An electric motor is placed between the engine and transmission, creating a smooth acceleration from a standstill, and allowing the motor to directly power CX-90 at low speed. Mated to the engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission specifically designed for the electrified powertrain and large platform vehicles. This multi-speed automatic gearbox, without a torque converter, achieves smooth and direct acceleration while improving drivetrain efficiency.
The large platform allows for a longer (5,120 mm), wider (1,994 mm) body, and a longer wheelbase (3,120 mm) that serves as the CX-90’s canvas. Designers imbued it with curves that give it ever-changing expressions created by the reflections of light and shadow. Carefully placed chrome garnishes emphasize its width and timeless styling, while 21-inch wheels complement its powerful presence.
The CX-90’s dignified design continues into the cabin with an interior that gives an expansive impression with a modern, linear appearance. Inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics, a luxurious and comfortable feel is experienced in all three rows. From the front seats to the available second captain’s chairs, and into the third row, there are multiple materials, such as Nappa leather and Leganu suede inserts.
It offers more capacious interior dimensions in virtually every area. The CX-90 3.3L AWD HEV Turbo offers seating for eight adults (2+3+3), while the top-of-the-line CX-90 3.3L AWD HEV Turbo Exclusive heightens the luxury with its six-seater configuration (2+2+2). In both variants, accessing the third-row seats is made easy by the design of the rear doors. They feature a larger step to make ingress and egress comfortable. The second-row bench seat also has a one-touch walk-in switch, for ease of access.
In terms of luggage capacity, the CX-90 offers a large 257-liter space. This is with both the second- and third-row seating in position. Folding the third row down increases that to 1,163 liters, while folding both seating rows flat increases this capacity to a massive 2,025 liters. A hands-free power tailgate makes loading and unloading of cargo easier.
The Mazda CX-90 includes technologies and amenities that elevate the driving experience, while also providing comfort and convenience for all occupants. The experience starts with three high-definition main displays: a 12.3-inch infotainment center display, a large heads-up display, and a fully-digital driver’s instrument panel. The latest Mazda Connect allows for the wireless connection of compatible smartphones via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, while the 12-speaker Bose sound system offer an unparalleled auditory experience. Other features include third-row USB-C charging ports, tri-zone climate control, upgraded interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and many more.
Using facial recognition technology, the Mazda Driver Personalization System automatically adjusts the seats, mirrors, heads-up display, and steering wheel to fit the driver’s physique as well as restoring more than 250 stored settings to match the driver’s preferences, including vehicle, audio, and climate control settings.
As with all Mazda vehicles, the CX-90 seeks to maintain the same top safety recognition as Mazda’s other vehicles. The i-Activsense advanced driver assistance system comes standard. This gives it features such as Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The new See-Through View monitor, assist in a variety of parking situations through the large 12.3-inch center display.
“The Mazda CX-90 establishes a new dimension in luxury SUVs. This is more than Mazda’s new flagship SUV; it is an expression of exceptional craftsmanship and human-centric technologies, a sophisticated and dynamic vehicle for families and lovers of adventure,” concludes Tan.

Why 280hp? Im a bit disappointed.
ReplyDeleteFuel. Mazda has to tune its engine to run on 91-95 RON fuel. Anything higher makes it harder in terms of ownership because access to 97 or 100 octane fuel is limited in provinces.
Delete3.7 mil jesas, how r u gonna sell that when u'r bored with it?
DeleteWay overpriced. All electric Mercedes Benz 7 seater ECB SUV cost only 3.99m.
DeleteIt's EQB by the way
DeleteEngine is detuned
ReplyDeleteBetter get the CX-9 while it's still available.
ReplyDeleteCX-9 will be staying put until the end of 2024.

I thought the higher output 3.3L was fine with 91-95 RON but it will only produce 319hp? Was that variant too expensive to sell here? This 6 cylinder engine is still better than the 4 cylinder competition though.
ReplyDeleteI’ll be upgrading to this SUV from a Mazda 6 within the year and I definitely prefer the black interior without the suede. I also know a few people who will order the lower variant because they don’t like the suede (and they like the silver wheels)
