After opening reservations a couple of weeks back, Honda Cars Philippines has finally launched the all-new, sixth-generation CR-V. With cumulative sales surpassing the 70,000-unit mark in the country, the all-new compact SUV seeks to capitalize on its iconic nameplate by offering enhanced comfort, next-generation connectivity, and the availability of Honda’s latest gasoline-electric hybrid system.
Design-wise, the CR-V goes for a balance between sportiness and functionality. The front pillars have been pulled back lengthening the nose for better aerodynamic performance and visibility. At the front, there’s a large, upright grille that comes standard with LED headlights (with adaptive driving beam and active cornering function for the RS e:HEV), while at the back, the inherited vertically-styled LED taillights express a stronger character. 18-inch alloy wheels with 235/60R18 tires is standard on all variants.
The new CR-V RS e:HEV variant further elevates the dynamic edge with the body-colored lower bumper and wheel arch trims along with high-gloss black accents on grille, side mirrors, rear spoiler, B- and C-pillars. Berlina Black 18-inch wheels give an advanced and sporty flare.
Inside, the “High Quality but Tough” design ethos goes for a clearly-styled, but high-quality space. Like the Civic, the CR-V adopts the low-profile vent design hidden by a honeycomb pattern detailing that spans the dashboard. Ambient lighting, particularly on the doors emphasize the cabin width. Honda also paid close attention to the various touchpoints, imbuing this compact SUV with high-quality materials.
Comfort and convenience features include the Honda Smart Key Card (1.5 VX Turbo and up), a 10.2-inch full digital gauge cluster, front power adjustable seats (with memory setting for the driver), hands-free power tailgate with walkaway close, leather upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen-based infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, and dual zone climate control with rear vents.
Meanwhile, the CR-V RS e:HEV is distinguished by its red accent stitching on its seats, a panoramic sunroof, aluminum sport pedals, brushed aluminum trim and piano black trim, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
The CR-V 1.5 V Turbo and the CR-V 1.5 VX Turbo AWD both offer seven seats as standard. The three-row concept has been refined by flattening the floor, while also relocating the rear seat air vent inlets from the top to the sides. Now, adults as tall as 170 cm can fit in the third-row. Access to the third-row has been made easier with a single-action lever on top of the second-row seats. With the third-row up, cargo space is 150 liters growing to 581 liters with the third-row seats down. Fold the second row seats down, and the cargo hold grows to 1,064 liters.
Meanwhile, the CR-V RS e:HEV is purely a five-seater model due to the presence of the high-voltage battery lithium-ion battery.
About the engine, the 1.5 V Turbo and 1.5 VX Turbo are both powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter VTEC engine. It outputs 190 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Compared to previous outings of the 1.5-liter turbo, the exhaust manifold has been changed to a 4-into-2 design for improved turbo efficiency at low engine speeds. Engine noise has been reduced thanks to a new high-rigid crankshaft, oil pan, intake cover, engine mounts, and muffler design.
The 1.5 VX Turbo is the sole variant offered with Honda’s Real Time All-Wheel Drive system. For the all-new CR-V, the system can now transfer up to 50 percent of available engine torque to the rear wheels.
Either way, both the 1.5 V Turbo and 1.5 VX Turbo AWD use a Continuously Variable Transmission with improved vibration suppression.
Meanwhile, the CR-V RS e:HEV debuts the latest Honda hybrid system for the Philippine market. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is mated to a pair of electric motors, mounted side-by-side. The primary electric motor already makes 184 horsepower, while a secondary motor, dedicated to charging the battery, makes 163 horsepower. Total system output, with the internal combustion engine, is 207 horsepower and 335 Nm from zero rpm. It also has three drive modes including an EV Drive mode that allows it to run on battery power.
Managing the hybrid setup is an all-new E-CVT which has high- and low-speed lockup ratios. The low ratio improves the CR-V RS e:HEV’s hill climbing ability, while also expanding the electric motor’s usage. Meanwhile, the high-ratio, with its separate gears, maximizes the speed in which the electric motor can run. It also reduces the rise in engine revs during highway cruising. A “B” setting also enables stronger energy regeneration—up to 0.09 G, while operating the paddle shifter can bring that up to 0.11 G.
Complementing the all-new CR-V’s powertrain is an enhanced platform. For improved stability, the wheelbase has been increased to 2,701 mm, while the front and rear tracks are now up 10 mm. Moreover, overall rigidity is up some 15 percent, while the suspension itself has been retuned. The steering itself uses a dual-pinion setup providing improved straight-line stability and feel.
Debuting on the CR-V is Honda Connect. This smartphone-based app enables new features that improve safety and convenience. These include automatic collision detection, vehicle dashboard, remote vehicle control, telematics, and security alarm alert.
The CR-V comes with Honda Sensing. Using a wide-angle monocular camera and millimeter wave radar, it gives features such as Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Lead Car Notification, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and Automatic High Beam with Adaptive Driving Beam.
The all-new Honda CR-V is available in the following colors: Ignite Red Metallic (RS e:HEV only), Canyon River Blue Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic (1.5 V Turbo and 1.5 VX Turbo), and Platinum White Pearl.
In terms of availability, the CR-V 1.5 V and CR-V 1.5 VX Turbo are now available at authorized Honda dealerships, while the Honda CR-V RS e:HEV will arrive by October.

DeleteBest in its class!
ReplyDeleteCRV RS HEV >>> RAV4 LTD HEV
The V variant has everything you need plus more (e.g. full honda sensing, leather seats, etc.), for 2.1M, unless you want an AWD. Not bad.
ReplyDeleteAdd 500K and go for the hybrid if you want coding exemption and less cost to fuel up - but buyers in this price range mostly dont care about these things. Perhaps another option for company execs with 2-3M car plan perks.
Disappointing honda ph decided to do cost cutting by not making the 19" alloys on the north american and thai, indonesian market available for the ph market
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't want thin tires due to big wheels given our road conditions.
DeleteYou are right. When your product is already expensive you should not do cost cutting. It is nearing the price of Mazda CX60 which is more premium and better features, bigger engine, bigger wheels, better interior. Yet there is just almost 100k difference. Subaru Forester is way Cheaper now.
DeleteThe rims are really disgusting.
Deleteis the hybrid variant an AWD? not mentioned in the article.
ReplyDeleteFront wheel drive.
DeleteI wonder why only FWD yet it has better power and torque than the turbo
Delete1.6 Diesel Turbo 160 PS at 2000 RPM. 360NM at 2000 RPM. Mated to 9 speed Automatic.
ReplyDelete2 variants of Honda CRV Diesel Turbo. RS and VX both AWD and Seven Seater.
Underpowered diesel is gone for good!
ReplyDeleteV 2WD is a good buy.
Had you told me a couple of years ago that the CX-5 would be reasonably priced compared to the CR-V, I probably would've mercilessly laughed right at your face. This world has gone completely bonkers.
ReplyDeleteThe minimum hp now for a compact crossover is now close or at least 200hp+. Attention Forest!
ReplyDeleteHonda Thailand offers RS e:HEV 4WD. I hope it would be sold here as well.
ReplyDeleteSad that the VX which is supposed to be a top of the line variant is missing key TOTL features like the Panoramic Sunroof and premium speakers. Why force people to get a hybrid to get all the niceties? It's both expensive upfront and expensive in the future to maintain.
ReplyDeleteThis is the way manufacturers push people to go hybrid. Only reason why many Filipinos buy hybrids is to get away from coding (hence Nissan pivoted their Kicks marketing to highlight the exemption). Only a few people buy hybrid due to their other benefits such as better efficiency and less fuel stops. With that kind of mentality, feature reservation is one way manufacturers get people to go hybrid.
DeleteWhy no 7 seater with pano roof and bose speakers?
ReplyDeleteThe wheels look too small. It has the same size of the wheels of the HR-V RS. Which is way too smaller than the CRV. They should have atleast 19 inches on the lower variant and 20 inches on the RS.
ReplyDeleteAlloy rims of it are similar to the USDM CRV which is just fine
DeleteBigger rims equates to bad ride quality, poor fuel consumption and higher cost of replacing the tyres.
Not true. The top of the line USDM CRV has 19 inches. The Thai market CRV RS has 19 inches. People who buy this kind of vehicle can afford to replace the tyres when it is time to do so. It was designed to be able to handle 19 inches. It’s not like an aftermarket upgrade.
DeleteHCPI is expecting they'll sell 3600 units of New CRV on its first year according to some other local motoring website.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they'll sell around 1600 or 2500 units of it only instead.
New CRV will be having tough time competing with the bigger value for money Chinese SUVs like GS8 and Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV which are selling dozens of units aside from competing with the usual PPV SUVs.
In your own words: Crv target sales 300 per month, gs8 and tiggo 8 pro phev selling dozens of units. 300:12 ratio, crv buyers will bought it bcoz its a prestigous model and brand, a global mdel, proven reliabilty and durability, and now has more tech, safety features AND VERY COMPETITIVE PRICED vs any of all china cars at its category. Imagine your riding on a LOWLY BRAND BUT HIGh PRICED tiggo 8 PHEV or gs8 and your friend rides a prestigous brand CRV
DeleteHonda is a premium brand? Don't get me wrong, we have a 5th gen CR-V and it's a relatively "ok" car but I wouldn't call it premium car nor a premium brand.
DeleteCrv million miles prestigous vs any of its china cars competitors.
DeleteCRV isn't a prestigious vehicle 😂
DeleteIts a just vehicle for commoners in America just like the RAV4
Hongqi EV SUV is way more luxurious and prestigious than a made in Thailand CRV
Interior materials of CRV came from the slow seller and expensive Civic Sedan
Crv buyers are brand conscious and wont settle for low status unreliable china cars.
DeleteMost people who have a crv or rav4 in their sights won't even bother cross-shopping them with chinese cars. I know I wouldn't.
DeleteAnd if you want "prestige", go euro or a Lexus man lang at least. Funny that some people here actually think that driving a Honda would make them look rich.
DeleteMazda CX-60 is way better alternative!
ReplyDeleteMazda CX-8 is the direct rival of the CRV but its more expensive.
DeleteThe CR-V is fighting on three fronts actually--the CX-5, CX-8, and CX-60.
DeleteThe 5+2 seating arrangement gives it the ability to fight against the CX-8, even if the CX-8 was designed to accommodate a third-row from the get-go. The 2WD sandwiches the CX-5 variants, while the 4WD goes after the CX-8.
Meanwhile, the e:HEV clearly goes against the other hybrid compact SUV, the RAV4 Hybrid. And maybe the CX-60.
Yeah crv vs mazda cx, rav4, even peugeot, but definitely no contest vs any china cars at its priced range
DeleteSaw already the CRV 4WD
ReplyDeleteLooks similar to the 2WD variant
The new CRV feels like a 2 Million Peso vehicle
No wonder some people already bought a GAC GS8 GT 2WD or some PPV SUVs instead.
Yep, I was disappointed when it was first announced. My long-time Honda agent even gave me an advanced sneak peak of the car to convince me otherwise, but I just wasn't sold on it. Ended up buying a Ford Territory Titanium X instead.
DeleteThe CR-V 2WD and AWD are very very similar. Minor differences only to things like the grille.
DeleteCrv buyers are not into matagtag ppv suv and low status but high priced gs8
ReplyDeleteUmm wtf are you talking about. We have both a crv and a terra in our garage of 6. And we have several friends and acquaintances who own multiple high-end cars but still have at least 1 ppv-based suv
DeleteGood for you, you are rich you have 6 garages. Since i can only afford to buy one, ill chose crv over matagtag ppv and definitely over any china cars.
DeleteLol, 6 garages... I think what was meant was 1 garage for 6 vehicles.
DeleteMaybe 6 garbage cans🤣🤣🤣
DeleteLOL, "you are rich you have 6 garages."
DeleteI like this website, but the commenters are annoying social climbers who pretends to know everything.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if the 'social climbers' turned out to be one person only.
DeleteAnonymous kasi. Anyone can pretend to be whoever they want. Hell I can say I own a Ferrari here and no one would question it!… NOT
DeleteYeah. And it seems every car reviewed/featured here always have a flaw. Toyota brings daihatsu vehicles to be cost effective, people crap on it because it's a "3rd world car". Honda brings the "global" crv, people complain it's too expensive and wheels are too small. No car is perfect but sometimes there is just too much complaining. :)
DeleteIt's always fun reading comments online, especially on social media.
DeleteNewsflash: Not all commenters here drive a Wigo or a Coolray (no offense to those who own these models). Some actually have pretty expensive cars.

DeleteNewsflash: Not all commenters here drive a Wigo or a Coolray (no offense to those who own these models). Some actually have pretty expensive cars.
Are they the ones who complain at every car reviewed/featured here?
Anonymous 3:39AM -
DeleteYes. They also praise chinese cars to the high heavens and love bashing euro cars because they can't afford them
weh? di nga? asan mga sasakyan ninyo? patingin nga. upload niyo sa image hosting website and post the link here.
DeleteAnonymous 1:37PM -
DeleteEven if I did, you're just going to claim that I grabbed the pictures from the web or posted a friend's car and claimed it as my own. So really, what's the point? And for what it's worth, we have a 5th gen cr-v and it's the cheapest car in our garage. Well, actually it's the FJ Cruiser, but only because we bought it way back in 2017 when it was still only a little over 1.7m.
That being said, enjoy driving your "volvo" coolray or your fucboi "acura" civic or whatever piece of crap it is you're driving :)
I know CR-V has a following like Civic, but with another 100k or 200k, I'd rather go CX-60. (6 cylinders, timeless interior and exterior although subjective to the owner, Bose speakers, more power and torque?). What do you think, Uly? Are you going to have a comparo?
ReplyDeleteFor diesel fans of Honda CRV Diesel needs to upgrade the engine and transmission.
ReplyDelete2.0 commonrail diesel engine with 205 ps at 4,400 rpm and 430 nm at 1,750 to 3,000 rpm is mated to 10 speed automatic transmission.
Malakas humatak ang diesel at good performace. Masarap i-hataw sa mga expressways and highways, matipid pa sa konsumo ng diesel.
Except for heavy trucks, Diesel is on its way Vanishing into oblivion
ReplyDeletethis car is a snorefest
ReplyDeleteSo does the RAV4 HEV and Santa Fe
