Just unveiled in Thailand, the refreshed D-Max gets revised styling headlined by a more aggressive-looking front clip. The bi-LED headlights feature a new design matched by the “3D” front grille with gray and black chrome detailing. The restyled front bumper also happens to integrate air curtains to help cut wind resistance. The 18-inch alloy wheels get a new design, while “Triple Armor” LED taillights add a sense of depth to the rear.

Inside, the 2024 D-Max receives a new digital gauge cluster with a 7-inch multi-information display, a 9-inch touch-type infotainment system with USB Type C connectors, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The black and brown leather seats also receive a heat-reflecting coating dubbed CoolMax with an 8-way power adjust for the driver (this goes well with the IR cut windshield that protects against UVA and UVB rays). A PM 2.5 air filter for the dual-zone climate control cap off the changes.

In terms of mechanical bits, the 2024 D-Max retains the services of its 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX engine with 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. This is still mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. For sure-footedness in challenging terrain, an electronic rear differential has been added along with a Rough Terrain Mode system. The latter effectively distributes power whether two- or four-wheel drive is engaged.

For 2024, the stereoscopic camera-based ADAS system has been updated with a wider angle of operation. The blind indicators also include rear cross traffic alert and rear cross traffic braking. This is on top of a full suite of 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, traction and stability control with hill start and hill descent control, and front and rear parking sensors.

With the D-Max Limited confirmed for a launch on October 12, it’s highly unlikely that the Philippines will get to see the new D-Max before the end of 2023. Expect it, however, to arrive sometime in 2024.
