Measuring in at 4,180 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,150 mm in height (2,590 mm wheelbase), it’s slightly smaller than the last-generation RX-7, but slightly bigger than the current “ND” generation MX-5, the Iconic SP is a two-door, two-seater sports coupe powered by a two-rotor EV system. Essentially, it’s a plug-in hybrid whose zero cylinder engine can be fueled up using carbon neutral fuel. Meanwhile, the batteries of the electric system can either be charged using renewable energy sources or via the rotary motor.

With a curb weight of 1,450 kilograms, the Iconic SP makes 370 horsepower and has a power-to-weight ratio of 3.9.

The ultra-compact rotary powertrain has allowed Mazda to create a low hood line for the Iconic SP, while also giving it a low center of gravity. As with the MX-5, it has a perfect 50/50 front to rear weight distribution.

Being a PHEV, the Iconic SP also has V2L or Vehicle-to-Load capability allowing its users to tap into the battery pack when needed.

The Iconic SP also debuts a new color: Viola Red. Mazda designers have focused on making a much more vivid color of red that accentuates the shape of the Iconic SP. It’s also based on their philosophy to “cherish the color red.”
