Nissan Confirms Next-Generation Qashqai, Juke To Go Electric

Nissan is charging ahead with its vision for a zero emissions future with confirmation that two nameplates will join the Leaf EV in going 100 percent electric: the Nissan Qashqai and Juke. These three will be built at the carmaker’s Sunderland plant which itself will manufacture only 100 percent electric vehicles.

Both vehicle and battery manufacturing will be powered by the EV36Zero Microgrid, which will incorporate the wind and solar farms at Nissan and will have the capability to deliver 100 percent renewable electricity to Nissan and its neighboring suppliers.

Nissan confirms that all its new cars in Europe will be fully electric only by 2030. The carmaker plans to be carbon neutral across the lifecycle of its products by 2050.

These next-generation vehicles will be inspired by Nissan’s all-electric concept vehicles, the Nissan Hyper Urban Concept (Qashqai), Hyper Punk Concept (Juke), and the Chill-Out Concept (Leaf).

Currently, Nissan Philippines sources the Leaf EV from the Sunderland, U.K. plant.
