It will be a busy 2024 for SAIC Motor Philippines, the new national sales company bannering the MG brand. According to its president, Mr. Felix Jiang, the carmaker is set to offer eight new vehicles and we now know what three of them are.
The first two were previewed at SAIC Motor Philippines’ media thanksgiving party—the Cyberster all-electric roadster and the MG One compact crossover. Now, we know what the third one is: the MG 4 XPower.
Spotted at the basement parking of the event venue is the MG4 XPower seen wearing local (Philippine) conduction sticker identification. The unit in question is finished in a matte green hue which MG officially calls, “Hunter Green.”
The MG4 XPower is the most powerful production MG ever thanks to its dual-motor powertrain that delivers a combined 435 horsepower (204 horsepower at the front and 231 horsepower at the back) and 600 Nm of torque. Zero to 100 km/h? A scant 3.8 seconds. Top speed is at 200 km/h.
Helping put all that power to the pavement, the MG4 XPower has what the brand calls, Dynamic Cornering Control System. Available for the first time on an MG, it gives four-wheel torque vectoring and an electronic locking differential. Furthermore, the suspension stiffness has been raised 25 percent and together with the 235/45 R18 wheels and tires, contribute to sharper handling. Stopping power from 100 km/h to zero is done in just 33.9 meters thanks to 345-mm ventilated disc brakes.
The 64-kWh lithium-ion battery gives it a range of 385 kilometers (WLTP). It is also capable of charging up to 140 kW using a Type 2 DC charger. This means a 10 to 80 percent top up time of just 26 minutes.
Inside, the MG4 XPower has a sportier cabin with alcantara and polyurethane seats, sport pedals, and a dedicated Track Mode display on its 7-inch virtual cluster display panel. At the center, there’s the same 10.25-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also found on the regular MG4.
After spotting, SAIC Motor Philippines is confirming that the MG4 XPower is slated for a release in the first half of 2024. It will be released alongside the Cyberster all-electric roadster as part of the brand’s sporty push. No official pricing was given, but according to a source, the brand is targeting an SRP of less than P 3 million for the performance hatchback.
I would rather buy a Lexus UX hybrid with less than 4M price than this one.
ReplyDeleteBuy one then..Its just an old CHR with Lexus styling in it.
DeleteMG4 X Power is an AWD high performance EV.
I hope the estimated price ( or less) will be the official MSRP.
DeleteIt will surely be less...they're just giving out general numbers for now.
DeleteStill a Lexus, not bad at all! rather than the so called AWD high performance EV which really good in paper specs but with questionable reliability...so I'll go for Lexus as well
DeleteOther media outfits say it will be priced around Php2.2M - which is close to Aussie pricing. Regular MG 4s Phil pricing is also almost the same as Aussie pricing.
ReplyDeleteNothing official yet until the launch...first half 2024.
DeleteAlmost 4m for a chinese car? No thanks, I don't care if it is fast. It is like burning money away.
ReplyDeleteMost likely around 2.8 Million to 3 Million Pesos which is just fine.
ReplyDelete4 Million Pesos is likely the pricetag of the Cyberster
If only this was cheaper, you can enter it in drag races, nevermind the fact that its disposable. lol
ReplyDelete454hp is overkill.
ReplyDeleteNo benefit in city or hiway drives.
Edsa too slow
Slex nlex theres speed limit.
Unless you run it on the track to really feel and experience that power.
