Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Scores Perfect At Safety Test

Chery is showing MG how to ace safety tests as its Tiggo 7 Pro managed to bag a perfect 5-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) score. This is the second 5-star vehicle from Chery after its T1X platform mate, the Omoda 5, received the same rating.

The Tiggo 7 Pro scored 88 percent (35.52 out of 40) in Adult Occupant Protection, 87 percent (42.74 out of 49) in Child Occupant Protection, 72 percent (45.66 out of 63) in Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 86 percent (15.54 out of 18) in Safety Assist Technology.

Fitted with six airbags that covered the first and second rows, the Tiggo 7 Pro offered excellent head protection to the two front-seat occupants in both the front- and side collision tests. That said, the ANCAP testing identified an area where protection could be improved through enhanced restraint design. Currently, it showed Weak scores for the chest of the driver in the frontal offset and oblique pole tests.

The Australian market Tiggo 7 Pro, which comes with a full ADAS suite, performed with Good levels of autonomous emergency braking (operational from 5 to 80 km/h) and lane keep support (operational from 65 to 150 km/h).

The Tiggo 7 Pro was also evaluated if the occupant could safely exit a vehicle if flooded. In this scenario, Chery showed that it remains functional for the amount of time ANCAP requires that occupants are able to escape. The doors and windows opened even when submerged in water, with uninterrupted operation of windows.
