After announcing that it will be launching its first battery electric vehicle in ASEAN by next year, Honda has announced that the e:N1 has finally rolled off the assembly line in Thailand. The e:N1 will go on sale in the first quarter of 2024.
The e:N1 is produced at Honda’s factory in Prachinburi using both imported and domestically-sourced parts. It also underscores Honda’s commitment to auto manufacturing in the Southeast Asian country.
Known as the Honda e:Ny1 in Europe and e:NS1 or e:NP1 in China, the e:N1 is roughly based on the current-generation HR-V compact crossover. However, because the platform is heavily modified for BEV duty, Honda has designated a new platform for it: e:Architecture F.
The e:N1 is a front-driven compact crossover BEV with 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. The fixed reduction gear delivers a 0 to 100 km/h time of about 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h. Under the floor sits a 68.8-kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers up to 412 kilometers of range. It’s also capable of DC fast charging.
Honda says the e:N1 is crucial to their plan of selling no less than two million BEVs in the world by 2030. And though confirmed for Thailand, Honda will reveal more details as to its regional launch and distribution plans by early next year.
