Land Rover Philippines Brings Defender V8 With P 16.990M Starting Price

With three body styles and 12 variants to choose from, it seemed that Land Rover Philippines has managed to plug in every conceivable niche with its new-generation Defender. That doesn’t seem to be the case as the award-winning 4x4 family adds four additional variants all powered by a V8 engine.

The Defender P525—available in both 90 and 110 body styles builds on decades of Land Rover’s V8 heritage. The newest one provides a unique combination of performance and capability that delivers heightened levels of driver engagement and agility on and off road.

As its model designation suggests, the Defender P525 is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 525 horsepower and 625 Nm of torque. Coursed through an 8-speed automatic, it drops the 0 to 100 km/h time to just 5.2 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 240 km/h. It is now the fastest and most engaging to drive production Defender ever.

Helping put all that power to the road, the Defender P525 comes with unique suspension and transmission tuning, including bespoke spring and damper rates, larger-diameter solid anti-roll bars, and a new Electronic Active Rear Differential with Yaw Control. All in all, this helps it deliver more agile and engaging handling with heightened body control.

Furthermore, the Terrain Response system adds a new program: Dynamic. It helps drivers to exploit the more dynamic character and handling balance of the Defender V8, particularly on tarmac and loose surfaces.

The Defender V8 is instantly recognizable thanks to a number of exterior enhancements including: exterior badging, quad exhausts with distinctive tailpipes, and unique 22-inch alloy wheels with a Satin Dark Grey finish combine to set the most powerful model in the line-up apart. It also has Xenon Blue brake calipers and 20-inch brake discs.

For the Philippine market, the Defender V8 comes exclusively in the Carpathian Edition which gets specification enhancements inside and out.

For example, the exterior is finished with Land Rover’s Satin Protective Film. The recyclable PU-based wrap is applied to external bodywork giving the 4x4 a contemporary semi-matte finish that also protects against everything from car park scratches to off-road bramble rash.

Inside, the Defender V8 Carpathian Edition features seats finished in Miko Suedecloth and Robustec accents and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and illuminated treadplates.

The Land Rover Defender V8 is priced at P 16.990 million for the Defender 90 V8 Carpathian Edition, going up to P 17.750 million for the Defender 90 V8 Carpathian Edition Bespoke Accessory Pack. Meanwhile, the Defender 110 Carpathian Edition V8 starts at P 17.990 million and goes all the way up to P 18.550 million for the Defender 110 V8 Carpathian Edition Bespoke Accessory Pack.

  1. How come so many Defenders are being resold? Is it that bad or people are just making money since they bought it at low price from the dealer? Isip isip!

  2. That 16.9M should be considered as 20M plus because of all the repairs it will do in its lifetime

  3. Be prepared for breathtaking depreciation. I think it would be more fun to just gather friends around and burn your money.
