The Hilux isn’t the only one enjoying an update this 2024 as Toyota Motor Philippines has quietly launched an updated version of its mid-sized 7-seater SUV, the Fortuner as well. These updates, first introduced in Thailand last August, don’t come with any changes to the price.
The base G variants—the Fortuner 2.4 G 4x2 MT and Fortuner 2.4 G 4x2 AT benefit from a full suite of airbags (7 versus three) and a push-start system with smart keyless entry. Otherwise, they remain the same and are still priced at P 1,736,000 and P 1,856,000, respectively.
Moving up to the 2.4 V 4x2 AT at P 1,989,000, it receives a 9-inch infotainment system with the added benefit of wireless Apple CarPlay. A 360-degree camera (Panoramic View Monitor) is standard as well.
The biggest changes happen with the 2.8 Q 4x2 AT. Priced at P 2,189,000 (P 2,204,000 for the White Pearl Mica), it basically gets the same exterior design as the top-trim Fortuner LTD models. Thus, gaining it a smaller grille, the sportier, more angular bumper treatment, machine-finished 18-inch alloy wheels, and the swapping of the chrome exterior elements for high-gloss ones.
Car spotters though will tell the 2.8 Q AT apart from the LTD and GR-S thanks to two things. First, the 2.8 Q AT retains its current bi-beam LED lighting system, while the LTD and GR-S have a different split-type design. Second, the 2.8 Q AT isn’t available with a contrasting roof option.
Inside, the 2.8 Q 4x2 AT gets the same wireless function on its Apple CarPlay unit. It has all black leather seats with contrast stitching. The same contrast stitching is found on the steering wheel which is then matched with a dark wood insert. It’s also the first in the Fortuner range to benefit from an integrated Data Communication Module (DCM) which helps unlock myToyota Connect—Toyota’s very own smartphone-based telematics system.
Mechanically, the 2.8 Q 4x2 AT remains untouched. Its 1GD-FTV engine still enjoys 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic. The same can be said about its safety gear. The Toyota Safety Sense gives it functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Warning and Braking, and Yaw Assist, on top of the 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert.
Moving up to the Fortuner 2.8 LTD 4x2 AT, Fortuner 2.8 LTD 4x4 AT, and Fortuner GR-S, they remain unchanged for 2024. They’re priced at P 2,385,000, P 2,545,000, and P 2,645,000, respectively with the LTD variants available in White Pearl Mica for an additional P 10,000.

DeleteI am still waiting for an update on their 3rd row seat design. All SUVs 3rd row seat can be folded flat, only Toyota seems not keen on updating this design. Milking their customers for 20 yrs before they will update this design.
ReplyDeleteThe Fortuner is an econo Prado. We can see from the open screws on the inside door handles (no screw cap), cheap audio head unit. Third row seems like an after thought hence it is clinging to the sides after folding it since. We had to live with it or look for other brand options for better offerings.
