Toyota is once again the world’s top-selling automaker in 2023, selling a record 11.2 million vehicles. It finished ahead of the Volkswagen Group which sold 9.2 million vehicles with Hyundai Motor Group in third with 7.3 million vehicles sold.
The Japanese automaker’s tally, which combines sales for Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu, and Hino brands, eclipsed its own previous record of 10.7 million units set in 2019, the year before it overtook Volkswagen.
Counting only Toyota and Lexus vehicles, its global volume sales totaled 10.3 million units—itself a record high—up 7.7 percent from 2022. In terms of markets, sales in Asia are flat due to economic downturns in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The Philippines is actually a bright spot for the automaker with its 200,031-year-end tally.
The Philippines is one of Toyota’s largest markets in Asia ranking fourth, and third among Southeast Asian nations after Indonesia and Thailand. It’s also one of its largest in the world (11th largest) above Brazil, the United Kingdom, and South Africa.
Sales of its hybrid models also increased by 31.4 percent in 2023 to 3.4 million units. However, Toyota sold just 104,018 battery electric vehicles last year.
In terms of local production, Toyota managed to assemble 56,305 units at its Santa Rosa, Laguna assembly plant. Home to the Vios and Innova for the Philippine market, this figure is up 13.4 percent compared to 2022 and the highest it’s been since 2011.
Toyota's focus on hybrid has paid off, after dominating hybrids they are now focusing on EV's.

Your dreaming...sales will further increase as car buyers knew that its the best time to buy a toyota bcoz defects has been discovered and CORRECTED. EV's will also add to sales figures.
