One of the most difficult new cars to get out there is the Toyota Hiace Super Grandia. Though Toyota Motor Philippines has previously said that supply of most models has started to normalize, we can categorically say that the Super Grandia isn’t one of them.
Nonetheless, this hasn’t stopped Toyota Motor Philippines from quietly updating the top-of-the-line trim of the Hiace range for 2024.
Spotted by reader Justin Caparas, the 2024 Hiace Super Grandia line-up has been reduced from three to two. Axed is the standard fabric seat version in favor of standard leather seats (quilted on the Super Grandia Elite). In addition, the infotainment system size has gone up from the previous 6.8-inch to 8-inch. This upsized screen also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, but removes the ability to play CDs and DVDs. Aside from the new infotainment system, the Hiace Super Grandia Elite now benefits from a 360-degree camera (Panoramic View Monitor) apart from the already standard Toyota Safety Sense.
These features aside, the Super Grandia and Super Grandia Elite have remained the same as before.
Powering the Hiace Super Grandia is the 1GD-FTV 2.8-liter engine with 176 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The sole transmission option is a 6-speed automatic. For its duties as the luxury version of the Hiace, Toyota swapped the rear leaf springs for a four-link coil spring setup improving its ride and handling.
With soft-closing dual sliding doors (powered open as well on the Hiace Super Grandia Elite), ingress and egress is made easier. Inside, it exchanges the premium economy seating for a more luxurious business class 10-seater setup which includes two rows of Captain’s Chairs. The Hiace Super Grandia Elite receives power adjustment with ottomans for the second row too.
As for pricing, naturally, they’ve gone up slightly. The Super Grandia is now priced at P 2,832,000 (from P 2,783,000) while the Super Grandia Elite is now at P 3,216,000 (from P 3,158,000). It comes in four colors: Black 3, Gray Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine and, Luxury Pearl Toning. The last shade commanding a P 15,000 premium.

Hard to buy means it's in demand and people are falling in line and waiting to buy one.
