2024 Mazda CX-30 Ups Styling, Safety, Tech For P 1.995M

Mazda Philippines has updated the CX-30 HEV compact crossover for 2024. Packed with higher equipment levels, including enhanced safety and convenience features, it cements its position as the most elegant crossover in its segment.

For 2024, the CX-30 HEV gains updates first seen in the Japan Domestic Model late last year. It elevates its sporty elegance with the signature Mazda wing’s new Black Chrome finish and Piano Black window garnishes. Six colorways remain available: Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Platinum Quartz, Polymetal Gray, Deep Crystal Blue, and Snowflake White Pearl.

Complimenting the exterior’s black tones, the 2024 CX-30 receives new gun metallic accents on the door handles, dashboard, AC vents & controls, and transmission shifter ring are appealing to the eyes. The seats are now swathed in a sophisticated combination of Terracotta Leather & Black Leganu Suede upholstery, while Black Leather & Leganu Suede with contrasting Terracotta stitching adorn the cabin.

The new CX-30 features upgraded standard equipment levels such as a high-resolution 10.25-inch Mazda Connect Infotainment Display. This is complemented by enhanced smartphone integration through wireless Apple CarPlay. Devices can also be charged using the new wireless charger or dual USB-C ports. Other features in the CX-30 include a 12-speaker Bose sound system, an electric glass sunroof, a front windshield-projected Active Driving Display, 360-degree view monitor, and a power tailgate with memory.

For added peace of mind, the new CX-30 is fitted with increased levels of safety. The new Adaptive LED headlights, Mazda’s top-range lighting technology, automatically brighten or dim individual beams to maximize illumination without blinding other vehicles. At speeds up to 40 kph, the system illuminates a wider area for better visibility of sidewalks and pedestrians—helpful when passing through busy city streets or intersections. At speeds above 95 kph, the system raises the illumination for better long-range visibility to help drivers spot potential hazards, traffic signs, or road exits earlier and give them more time to react accordingly.

The CX-30’s i-Activsense Driver Assist Technology has been upgraded with the addition of Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Front Cross Brake Support (FCBS), Rear Cross Brake Support (RCBS), and Driver Monitoring System (DMS). These are in addition to the already extensive list of advanced driver assist features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS), Smart Brake Support – Front (SBS-F) with Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW), Smart Brake Support – Rear (SBS-R), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) with Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Together with other safety features such as seven SRS airbags and parking sensors all around, it is the safest CX-30 yet.

The 2024 CX-30 comes standard with a 2.0-liter e-Skyactiv-G engine equipped with the 24-volt Mazda Hybrid system. This innovative system captures and stores energy that is normally wasted during braking into a lightweight lithium-ion battery. That stored energy is then used to drive an integrated electric motor that sends additional power to the drivetrain, while also powering the CX-30’s electrical system. In certain circumstances, it can coast on electric power alone. The compact motor generates an extra 6.9 PS and 49 Nm, helping boost overall outputs to 164 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a 6-speed automatic with Sports Mode and Paddle Shifters.

Despite the new enhancements, the 2024 CX-30 2.0 HEV is priced at P 1,995,000—just a P 5,000 increase over the previous model. It comes standard with Mazda’s industry-leading ownership package—a 5-year Free Service Plan which covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals for up to five years or 100,000 kilometers.

  1. Is this classified as "hybrid" for coding exemption? I read somewhere that what is controlling is the label "hybrid" found in the OR. Is this correct?

    1. I haven't seen the OR/CR of the 24V M Hybrid vehicles yet, but I can confirm that the 48V M Hybrid vehicles (CX-60, CX-90) do say "Hybrid."

  4. Why does this have the new infotainment system while the cx5 still has the outdated version?

    1. Dunno. But seems the rollout of the modern Mazda Connect infotainment system is being staggered...that's why our CX-5, 8, 9, MX-5 still get the old one while the 3, 30, 60, and 90 get them. Let's see if they'll be able to put in the new infotainment system in the new MX-5.

    1. They still offer the CX-3. That would be the smallest Mazda SUV.
