When Ford Philippines said they now had ample stocks of the Explorer mid-sized SUV, there had to be a good reason, right? Well, apparently that’s because the refreshed 2025 Explorer has just made its global debut.
Not to be confused with the all-electric Explorer, The 2025 Ford Explorer remains a three-row mdi-sized SUV. It features a refreshed front-end with a larger grille (insert design is based on trim), sleeker all-LED headlights, a reshaped bumper with an integrated skid plate and lower, wider air curtains. At the back, the LED taillights are now made to extend from the corners onto a horizontal applique that stretches across the tailgate like the current-generation Everest. Wheel sizes range from 18 to 21 inches.
Inside, the 2025 Explorer has a new dashboard that’s been pushed forward to give the front passengers a more open feel. An integrated tray below the touchscreen now houses the wireless charger and there are now USB charging ports across all three rows. In addition, there are more soft-touch surfaces, particularly on the center console and door cards.
Ford has trimmed the Explorer range for 2025. Standard power comes from a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost with rear- or all-wheel drive. Buyers could opt for an available 3.0-liter 6-cylinder EcoBoost with 400 horsepower and 563 Nm of torque. In both cases, it’s mated to a recalibrated 10-speed automatic.
The Explorer is the first Ford vehicle to include the “Ford Digital Experience” which allows for greater connection and personalization through profiles, contents, and apps. At the center is a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen (most in-vehicle controls and settings are housed there), while the driver gets his own 12.3-inch all-digital gauge cluster. Google Assistant comes built-in as standard, but users can also opt to use Amazon’s Alexa as an alternative.
The touchscreen itself can be used to house applications downloaded on Google Play such as YouTube, Netflex, Prime Video, and more. It will also be able to surf the internet or even play games using either the touchscreen or via a Bluetooth-enabled game controller.
The new Explorer is also equipped with Ford BlueCruise which enables hands-free highway driving. The system incorporates Lane Change Assist which allows the driver to switch lanes hands-free by simply tapping on the turn signal when the path is clear. It also has In-Lane Repositioning which provides more space around the vehicle by shifting away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.
The 2025 Explorer is set to arrive at Ford dealerships in the US in the second quarter of this year.
