Among the new automotive entrants in the Philippine market last year, Jetour Auto has, no doubt, been the most visible. But just how many units did they manage to sell?
The upstart brand, brought in by two large dealer groups: Gateway Group and AutoSpeedyGo and backed up by a seasoned management team led by its managing director Miguelito Jose, has had a strong 2023.
Jose revealed that despite starting retail sales only last April, Jetour Auto Philippines managed to sell 1,018 units. This puts them in the Top 20 automotive brands in the country, overtaking the likes of Fuso, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, and Volkswagen (based on the year-end CAMPI-TMA report).
More importantly, Jetour Auto Philippines will hit their sales goal for the year. It must be remembered that when they started, they sent an initial goal of selling 1,500 units a year. If their sales trend continues (average of 113 units sold monthly), they can easily achieve this by around April. They have already managed to hit their year-end 2023 target.
Jose attributes Jetour Auto’s success in the Philippines to several factors including their strong partnership with banks, value-oriented product offerings, and robust marketing efforts, including an ambassadorship with Team Kramer, which has helped them reach 28 million Filipinos.
Responding to this growth, Jetour Auto Philippines opened a total of 12 dealerships—five of them in Metro Manila and seven in provincial locations. They have also beefed up their aftersales with a dedicated customer hotline, as well as increased personnel training. The latter has paid off with the Philippine team placing sixth in the first-ever Jetour Global Skill Olympics.
This year, Jose says they are confident of hitting 3,700-unit sales for the year and to do that, they will continue to expand its dealership footprint by opening an additional seven showrooms in Metro Manila and another seven provincial showrooms bringing their total to 24—10 in Metro Manila and 14 located outside the National Capital Region.
Together, they will be launching a slew of vehicles in 2024 and 2025. This year, a total of four vehicles will be launched—the Jetour Dashing Symphony, the Jetour Dashing PHEV, the Jetour T-2 Off-Road SUV, and another crossover. In 2025, they will launch one battery electric vehicle, another hybrid electric vehicle, and one traditionally powered crossover.
They will also concentrate on building Jetour Auto’s brand values and offer new ways to engage with customers including a planned smartphone app, more owner perks, and even sales referral programs. This will be on top of continuous trainings for their sales and aftersales.
