With the carmaker starting the export of its new compact crossover, the Xforce, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation has confirmed that this latest nameplate will be arriving in the Philippines this June. Bookings will start as early as May.
Built at PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia (MMKI), Mitsubishi Motors’ factory in Indonesia, the Xforce is a five-seater crossover that combines authentic SUV styling with a spacious and versatile interior, and maneuverability perfect for the region’s tight urban roads.
The Xforce adopts the latest Dynamic Shield design concept of Mitsubishi resulting in a SUV that combines elegance and robustness. The upper part of the body is meant to look visually light, while the lower part adopts a solid and stance. Key features include a top-class ground clearance of 222 mm while 18-inch alloy wheels and 225/50R18 tires enhance its handling.
Inside, the Xforce uses Mitsubishi’s Horizontal Axis dash concept. However, for the first time in a Mitsubishi model, it uses a mélange fabric to pad the instrument panel. This highly practical fabric exudes modernity, while still being resistant to stains. At the center is a large 12.3-inch monolithic display running the brand’s Smartphone-link Display Audio. The driver gets a digital driver display for a cutting-edge feel. Available features include a smartphone wireless charger, dual zone climate control, and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror.
The main highlight, however, is the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium developed in collaboration with Yamaha Corporation. The system is comprised of eight speakers, with front tweeters on the A-pillars on both sides, woofers in the front doors, and coaxial two-way speakers in the rear doors. To maximize speaker performance, measures have been taken to optimize sound quality in the car itself. The sound system also offers four sound types that can be selected according to musical taste and mood: Lively (factory setting), Signature, Powerful and Relaxing.
Powering the Xforce is a 1.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine. The 4A91, shared with the Xpander, helps this 5-seater SUV produce 104 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The sole transmission is a CVT.
Its suspension has been tuned with ASEAN roads in mind making sure it stays comfortable even over rough or undulating roads. The front has optimized caster trail and a quicker steering ratio, while the rear has optimized bushings and shock absorber diameter size. Aside from its ample ground clearance, its approach and departure angles are among best in its class at 21 degrees and 30.5 degrees, respectively. Its turning radius is a compact 5.2 meters.
As a 2WD model, the Xforce has utilized Mitsubishi Motors’ four-wheel control technology to achieve the road handling of an SUV. The four drive modes of Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud allow the car to deal with a range of road conditions by integrating Active Yaw Control (AYC) that adjusts the driving force on the front left and right wheels to improve controllability, traction control that controls tire skidding, engine control, and power steering control.
Adopted by Mitsubishi Motors for the first time, the Wet mode improves cornering and stability on wet roads during rain makes it less likely to lose control of the steering wheel for worry-free driving even on roads flooded by sudden showers.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has yet to reveal the Xforce’s exact price, but says it will be class competitive against the likes of the Geely Coolray and Toyota Yaris Cross. They also expect to sell around 7,000 units of Xforce SUVs annually, bringing up their market share in the local automotive industry to around 20 percent from the current 18 percent.

DeleteTC: XForce should aim for Yaris Cross V pricing but same or slightly better packaging. It was a long wait for the WR-V for many of us. This is Honda's loss but Mitsu's gain in the end. With the low quality built for Raize, it is a class of its own.
ReplyDeleteTBF to the Raize it's a class below the xforce and the yaris cross. The only reason why it's being compared to those cars is because it's competitors from it's home market aren't being sold here. The WRV, The Indian made Nissan Magnite which is exported to Indonesia, and potentially the Indian made Hyundai Exter.
DeleteI hope we get similar specifications to the Vietnamese model. That one comes with full 6 airbags and complete ADAS, which the Indonesian version doesn't come with depite being built there.

DeleteThe LHD export market version sold in the Vietnam is available in GLX (smaller rims and only 4 airbags) up to Exceed/GLS Sport (6 airbags with ADAS).
Reviews from Indonesia aren't so positive.. the seating position is bad, the suspension and seats are too stiff, the engine & tranny combo not as responsive as Honda HR-V & Hyundai Creta, interior plastics and trims are horrible (worse than the bad DNGA Yaris Cross), laggy head unit, poor body control, dull steering, The list goes on... it isn't the game changer that the Xpander was to the MPV segment back in 2018. Unlike the MPV segment where choices were limited (and downright bad products) the subcompact crossover space is crowded with good options.

DeleteCreta in the Philippine market is overpriced and expensive same goes for the HRV which isn't that popular anymore in the Philippine market due to its steep pricing and incomplete features on its mid and high end variants.
If they priced this unit well, 7000 units in a year is very attainable. Good luck and more power Mitsubishi!
