Select Mazda CX-60, CX-90 Subject Of Special Service Campaign

Bermaz Auto Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in the Philippines has confirmed that a number of CX-60 and CX-90 SUVs are part of a global recall.

In an exclusive interview, Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines, says that both of these new-generation SUVs have an issue surrounding its steering system.

It’s been discovered that while driving, a customer may feel a sudden increase of effort when steering the vehicle.

A worm gear is incorporated in the steering gear assembly, which transmits the power assist generated by the power steering motor. The worm gear friction force may be excessive, which results in increased force required to turn the steering wheel. This results in a sudden and unexpected change of steering effort which may increase the risk of a crash or accident.

To rectify the issue, Mazda Philippines will be reapplying a special grease supplied by Mazda Japan. In addition, they will be replacing the spring on the preload to a softer one.

Mazda Philippines says they have already gotten in touch with all 449 or so owners of the CX-60 and CX-90. The corrective action will take around an hour and will be at no cost to the customer.
