Honda is continuing the refresh of its models this 2024. After the Civic, the HR-V (Japanese market Vezel) has also been updated with some minor changes to its design, interior, and in the case of the e:HEV, powertrain.
Overall, the changes are minor. Upfront, there’s a wider grille and a chrome bar that visually joins the headlights. At the back, the taillight design has also been changed with the same bar motif. On higher-end models, the HR-V can now be had with projector headlights and opting for these unlock the Adaptive Driving Beam function which blocks off certain parts of the high beam to avoid dazzling other road users.
Inside, the 2024 HR-V gets new seat materials, while the center console beneath the AC controls has been reshaped to accommodate a two-tier storage compartment.
In terms of safety, the Honda Sensing system has been enhanced with the addition of Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), providing steering assistance at lower speeds. There’s also Collision Mitigation Throttle Control that protects against sudden acceleration because of pedal misapplication.
On the e:HEV models, Honda has tweaked the dual-motor powertrain to “further enhance the engine sound while driving in the city” and to make it more responsive. No details were provided as to what’s been changed but it’s likely that outputs—131 horsepower and 253 for the electric motor and 105 horsepower and 127 Nm for the 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine—are carried over.
Hope they get rid of that protruding exhaust resonator from underneath. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Honda in all of its engineering marvel has left this one out unnoticed by its engineers.
ReplyDeleteHonda's version of a cheap and ugly grill which is becoming common nowadays. Just use a punch press or CNC punching machine to create slat holes in the front sheet metal and voila, you have a grill.
