The biggest change underneath is the larger battery pack. From 77.4-kWh, the 2024 Ioniq 5 now boasts of 84 kWh for increased range between charges.

The suspension has been modified for better ride comfort with a new shock absorber. The rigidity of the cowl crossbar has also been increased to reduce vibrations in the steering wheel. Reinforcements at the rear wheel and lower part of the vehicle has been doubled, resulting in improved stability and agility. The stiffness of the vehicle body has been strengthened to reduce low-frequency booming noise, and motor noise control has been optimized. Additional sound insulation for the rear wheel motor enhances overall quietness.

For safety, the body, front and rear doors and B-pillar parts have been reinforced to improve side collision protection. The vehicle also features an eight-airbag system, including second-row side airbags, for enhanced safety.

The new interior emphasizes improved usability. The “Universal Island” now features a physical button that can operate frequently-used functions including the heated/ventilated seats and the park assist function. The smartphone wireless charging pad has also been relocated from the lower to the upper part improving its usability. The steering wheel adopts the interactive pixel lights (also found in the Ioniq 6), while the buttons to the infotainment and air conditioning controls have been tweaked for enhanced operational convenience.

As for the infotainment system itself, the new Ioniq 5 gets the connected car Navigation Cockpit or ccNC. THis improves overall smartphone integration and user convenience while also adding Over-The-Air (OTA) software update functionality.

Furthermore, Hyundai has introduced several new safety and convenience features to benefit drivers. These include the Hands-On Detection (HOD) steering wheel, Forward/Side/Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA-F/S/R), and improvements to the Lane Keeping Assist and Remote Start Parking Assist.

There are also new customer-preferred features, including Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS), digital key, built-in dashcam, and second-row seat remote folding.
