Nissan has started teasing the all-new 2025 Patrol, at least in its luxury guise, the Infiniti QX80. The luxury full-sized flagship, launching on March 20, is said to offer a powerful and rewarding drive, seamless comfort, and advanced technology.
As the Lexus LX is to the Toyota Land Cruiser, the QX80 is basically a more luxurious version of the same SUV with additional features and unique styling. Based on what Nissan and Infiniti has done with the current-generation model, the QX80 will likely have a restyled front end and bumper treatment. The rest of the body panels—doors, roof, and tailgate will be shared.
With that in mind, there are a couple of interesting design features on display here (despite the camo). For example, there’s a row of LEDs that form the wraparound angular headlights. A lightbar, spanning the front-end may also end up connecting the two headlights together. The “piano key” LED daytime running lights and lit badge are expected to be an Infinti exclusives.
Elsewhere, it’s very clear that the QX80/Patrol would, more or less, retain its boxy, upright styling. The doors clearly show flushed door handles, while at the back, the taillights look to be full-width and are intricately detailed compared to the current model.
The big news is that Nissan’s expected to drop the current 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine in favor of a more fuel-efficient, yet powerful twin-turbo V6. This new engine is expected to bump up the horsepower count to 430 from the current 405 horsepower. If proven true, this makes the all-new 2025 Patrol even more powerful than the current Patrol Nismo.
Nissan has also hinted the strong possibility of electrifying the all-new Patrol perhaps towards the middle or latter half of its product cycle.
Japanese luxury automakers like Acura and Infiniti seems off lately as compared to the rest in the segment. I believe the only doing well is Lexus.
