Nissan has revealed a three-year road map dubbed, “The Arc” in a bid to boost its worldwide sales by one million vehicles. The plan includes the launch of 30 new models—16 electrified models and 14 internal combustion-powered ones.
The plan is positioned as a bridge between the Nissan Next business plan (2020-2023) and Nissan Ambition 2030, the company’s long-term vision. The new plan is split for 2024 to 2026 and 2026 to 20230.
Under the two-part plan, Nissan will first take actions to ensure volume growth through a tailored regional strategy and prepare for an accelerated transition to EVs, supported by a balanced electrified and ICE product portfolio, volume growth in major markets, and financial discipline.
This will pave the way for the second part of the plan aimed to enable the EV transition and realize long-term profitable growth, supported by smart partnerships, enhanced EV competitiveness, differentiated innovations and new revenue streams.
By the end of the decade, Nissan says the mix of electrified vehicles in its portfolio will increase to 60 percent from 40 percent in 2026.
This product offensive will be supported by new development and manufacturing approaches. For example, Nissan plans to develop EVs into “families” integrating powertrains, and utilizing modular manufacturing, group sourcing, and battery innovations. This will hopefully reduce the cost of its next-generation EVs by 30 percent helping them achieve cost parity with ICE vehicles by 2030.
Moreover, Nissan will harness partnerships to stay competitive. This includes tapping Mitsubishi Motors to help them develop their portfolio of products and technology.
Regionally, The Arc plan has confirmed the launch of a new pickup truck, likely the next-generation Navara, as well as a compact SUV-sized EV.
I've read in other sources that the new Mitsubishi Triton uses the platform of the upcoming Nissan Navara... does that mean that the Triton is a sneak peak of the upcoming Navara? And if Nissan developed a new platform, why did Mitsubishi get to use it first?
ReplyDelete30 new vehicles in 3 years could be more ambition than realistic. But its nice that 14 of it are ICE, ICE will be suitable for model regionalization.
