It’s official: United Asia Automotive Group (UAAGI), has been appointed as the official distributor of Lynk & Co in the Philippines. The global premium brand, formed as a partnership between Volvo Cars and Geely, is set for an official launch at the Manila International Auto Show from April 4 to 7, 2024.
“We introduce Lynk & Co Philippines to the local market with much excitement and positivity, knowing that this brand affords Filipinos the opportunity to drive home a premium, global vehicle that ticks all the right boxes in terms of design aesthetic, safety, and modern connectivity,” says Froilan Dytianquin, UAAGI Group Managing Director and Lynk & Co Philippines Brand Head.
Before its official launch, however, Lynk & Co Philippines showed off its initial two-vehicle line-up: the Lynk & Co 01 PHEV and the Lynk & Co 06 compact crossover. The Lynk & Co 01 PHEV rides on the Compact Modular Architecture or CMA platform, while the Lynk & Co 06 uses the B-segment Modular Architecture or BMA platform.
As its name implies, the Lynk & Co 01 PHEV is powered by a plug-in hybrid system pairing a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor. The “Drive-E” as the engine tech’s called produces a combined 262 horsepower output, while its pure EV range is pegged at 69 kilometers. It can be charged using a Type 2 AC charger.
Confirmed features of the Lynk & Co 01 PHEV include the trademark Aurora Borealis DRLs, Energy Cube rear lights, and 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Inside, it has a 12.3-inch multi-information display and a 12.7-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The speaker system is by Infinity.
Meanwhile, the Lynk & Co 06 uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. If it sounds familiar, it should be, as it’s the same one used by the all-new Geely Coolray (down to the 7-speed dual clutch automatic). Unlike the Coolray, however, the model does have independent suspension on all four corners.
Features of this B-segment SUV include the same Aurora Borealis DRLs, Energy Cube rear lights, but also dual exhaust pipes, a panoramic sunroof and power tailgate.
Both models carry a myriad of ADAS features including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, traffic jam assist, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
“Lynk & Co not only elevates UAAGI’s entire auto brand portfolio, but also allows us to cater to a wider audience of Filipino motorists and their discerning tastes and preferences. We believe Lynk & Co Philippines perfectly complements UAAGI’s existing offerings, providing Filipinos with a wider range of modern, stylish, safe, high-quality automotive choices,” says UAAGI Chairman Rommel L. Sytin.
Image pricing of the Lynk & Co 01 PHEV is pegged at P 2.4-million, while the Lynk & Co 06 is pegged at P 1.5 million. Both models will be available for test drives at MIAS.
Good looking new SUVs from Lynk and Co.
ReplyDeleteUAAGI will only focus on SUVs for Lynk and Co. in the Philippine market.
Wow, could be my next car..
ReplyDeleteWondering why this was not awarded to Sojitz G..... Geely and Lynk & Co should just have 1 distributor in the Philippines...
ReplyDeleteWell, it's still a Geely product in just a new packaging.
