The most powerful production SUV sporting a V8 engine gets an update this 2024. First launched in 2022, the Aston Martin DBX707 became known as the “supercar of SUVs.” Further cementing that reputation, starting this year, it drops the “base” DBX550 variant in favor of a single powertrain. Additionally, the DBX707 gets comprehensive upgrades to its interior and connectivity features.
Information is now displayed in what Aston Martin considers a best-in-class Pure Black 10.25-inch touchscreen tech with full capacitive and multi-finger gesture control. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a multitude of USB C connectors are standard. The standard speaker count has risen to 13, while an optional Bowers & Wilkins system bumps that up to 23 with double amplifiers. The instrument cluster, meanwhile, now measures at 12.3-inches which is 1.5 inches larger than the one found in the DB12 and Vantage.
Despite the new touchscreen, the DBX707 still provides physical switches, particularly to driver-centric operations such as gear selection, drive mode, ventilation, and heating. There are also control switches for the suspension, stability control and exhaust, lane keep assist, and park distance control.
Housing the new infotainment system and center stack, the DBX707 gains a refreshed interior motif as well. The horizontal design line now bisects the upper and lower sections of the dashboard, with the same linear theme serving to reduce the dash height. The steering wheel, door handles, and vertical air inlets are also new. A variety of new materials—gloss smoked oak, titanium mesh, ziricote wood, and carbon fiber veneers are available.
Outside, the DBX707 now has power actuated flushed door handles, flushed swivel-head door mirrors, five new exterior colors, and a re-tweaked Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
Underneath, the DBX707 continues with its 707 horsepower, 900 Nm 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant and 9-speed wet-type dual clutch automatic. Mated to a sophisticated all-wheel drive system capable of sending up to 100 percent of the torque to the rear axle on demand, the DBX707 can launch from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 311 km/h. With braking power delivered by 420 mm front and 390 mm rear Carbon Ceramic brakes, the DBX707 sits on 22-inch wheels as standard, with a choice of cast or forged 23” alloy wheels available as options.
Production of the new DBX707 is due to commence in the second quarter of 2024.
