Subaru has set a lofty goal of achieving zero fatal road accident in its vehicles, including those involving vulnerable road users by 2030. To that end, they’re partnering with American chip giant AMD for its next-generation EyeSight system.
AMD will design circuits for a system-on-chip (SoC) that integrates the stereo camera system. Moreover, the recognition processing will be imbued with AI inference helping the vehicle make “optimal decisions.” The next-generation Subaru EyeSight will be powered by a system based on the AMD Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 adaptive SoC. This will give it AI inference performance and ultra-low latency processing at a low cost.
The roll out of the new EyeSight system is expected by the second half of the 2020s.
Subaru is serious with their Eyesight technology.
