Ahead of its Australian market launch, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro scored a perfect 5-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program or ANCAP. This is the third Chery model to receive the maximum rating following the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 7 Pro.
The 5-star ANCAP safety rating is confirmation of Chery's commitment to excellence in automotive safety, highlighting its comprehensive safety design and reinforcing the commitment to customer safety.
The Tiggo 8 Pro scored 88 percent for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 87 percent Child Occupant Protection (COP), 79 percent Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 86 percent Safety Assist Technology.
The Tiggo 8 Pro’s rating is based on the crash safety rating of its sibling platform car, the Tiggo 7 Pro with additional pedestrian impact tests and supplemental technical information.
Considered stricter than the ASEAN NCAP, to achieve a 5-star ANCAP rating, the Tiggo 8 Pro model here came outfitted with dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting airbags, and a driver knee airbag are standard. A center airbag which provides added protection to front seat occupants in side impact crashes is also standard.
The Tiggo 8 Pro’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system is compatible not just for vehicle-to-vehicle applications, but also for Vulnerable Road User, Junction & Crossing, Backover and Head-On scenarios. It also has a lane support system with both lane keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), and emergency lane keeping (ELK). It also has an advanced speed assistance system (SAS).
