Isuzu Philippines Corporation collaborated with R.O.X Philippines in their latest Outdoor Guide event themed, “Car Camping 101”. The event, held last May 4, featured expert speakers from various fields and attracted outdoor enthusiasts nationwide, eager to learn about the trending lifestyle of car camping or overlanding.
R.O.X, the premier recreational sports store in the Philippines, regularly hosts its Outdoor Guide series, educating customers on a variety of outdoor activities, including survival techniques and mountain climbing. This edition, however, focused specifically on car camping, meeting the growing interest in self-reliant outdoor travel and accommodation.
The event featured an array of speakers, each an expert in their respective field. Lawrence Dy from Car Camping PH spoke on Camping Etiquette, enlightening attendees on how to be considerate and well-liked campers. Peter Gaw, also known as “Uncle Peter,” a popular figure in the camping community and a veteran camper, shared his extensive knowledge on campsite cooking, catering to all skill levels from beginners to advanced camp chefs.
Coach Manny of UP Mountaineers covered vital wilderness first aid tips and demonstrated how to prepare an effective homemade first aid kit—superior to commercial versions. He also instructed participants on essential knot-tying techniques for constructing shelters in the wild.
Winston “Mr. Campwell” Chua introduced the basics of setting up a camp kitchen using the versatile Snow Peak IGT system and discussed the importance of lighting and aesthetic arrangement in enhancing the campsite atmosphere.
From the vehicle customization perspective, Jay Lim of Overland Kings explored the nuances of equipping a vehicle for overlanding. His talk emphasized storage solutions, shelter options, and the essential integration of water and power systems to create a functional yet dream-worthy mobile camping setup.
Isuzu Philippines represented by its Asst. Division Head for Sales, Robert Carlos, showcased its commitment to providing durable and reliable vehicles for outdoor adventures. IPC featured its Isuzu D-Max and mu-X models, emphasizing their robustness and suitability for various terrains and outdoor activities. The presentation also included insights from their recent Camp Out event in Tanay, Rizal, giving participants a closer look at practical vehicle setups and what to expect in different camping environments.
“Nowadays, any vehicle can be driven to camp depending on the road and camp terrain. But if you have the choice, you have to choose well – trust only durable and reliable vehicles to get you the best camping destinations in the country, this way you can have more confidence, driving your vehicle with no limits in far flung areas and enjoy it for a longer period of time,” said Robert Carlos.
This collaborative event was co-presented by Snow Peak, a leading Japanese manufacturer of outdoor equipment, known for its functional yet aesthetically pleasing gear that is sure to appeal to campers across the country.
