The Kia Sonet, the brand’s latest crossover offering, is now in the Philippines. Initial stocks of the small SUV are already in the country ahead of its official introduction this June.
Kia Philippines is strategically expanding its extensive local portfolio with the addition of the Kia Sonet. This decision follows the successful launch of the new Kia Seltos in November 2023, demonstrating the company’s commitment to providing a diverse range of vehicles to the Philippine market.
Looking to fulfill the mobility needs of first-car buyers, the Kia Sonet is set to enter the competitive small SUV segment with a stylish and distinctive product offering.
Although Kia Philippines has yet to reveal any official specification, based on the photos, the Sonet will be available in at least two variants—one will have a single-tone exterior and the other, a two-tone exterior (black roof). Both models look to have LED headlights, smart keyless entry, roof rails, and a shark fin antenna as standard. Inside, the Sonet looks to sport black fabric seats, steering wheel controls, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen.
With an indicative price that starts at P 770,000, the Kia Sonet is now available for pre-ordering and reservations at any of Kia Philippines’ 40 dealerships nationwide.
“The Kia Sonet is one of the most popular models in Kia’s global lineup, and it promises to fulfill the needs of young individuals and families with its crossover credentials and rich feature set,” shares Brian Buendia, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Philippines.
will the sonet come from india, vietnam or china?
ReplyDeleteManufactured by Kia Yueda from China just like the axed Stonic,Soluto and Seltos.
DeleteHundreds of Kia Sonet produced by Kia Yueda from China
ReplyDeleteIf this is to replace stonic(not sure though) like what hyundai did with the venue in exchange to creta, i mean is there something wrong with stonic? It's kia's best seller right? Why phase it out?
ReplyDeleteProduction of the Kia Stonic in China ended this year as its been replaced by the Kia Sonet
DeleteKia Stonic in China and the Philippines is outdated already.
Kia Sonet is much newer, safer and better.
maybe to align with other ASEAN countries? Most of them sell the Sonet instead of the Stonic. The Sonet also seem to have more updated features like LED headlamps
DeleteProduction of the China spec Stonic ended already in its motherland last year due to poor sales in China and Kia Yueda isn't interested of heavily updating it..Kia Sonet which they currently produce and sell is newer and got a much more powerful reliable engine.
DeleteI think stonic is already phased out. Not that popular anymore in china where it is being manufactured.
ReplyDeleteWhen will the facelifted Kia Sorento arrive?
ReplyDeleteMost likely when the zero tariff on hybrids started to be enforced later this year.
DeleteKia EV5 which is made in China is the next product that Kia Philippines plans to sell in the local market
I believe the Sonet will either be sourced from China or India given the pricing.
ReplyDeleteKia Yueda China is the only country that produces and sells Kia Sonet with 1.5 liter gas engine
DeleteKIA we are waiting for the facelifted sorent and tucson When????
ReplyDeletesportage naman
ReplyDeleteHappy that Kia is finally getting good when it comes to vehicle offerings. May not offer the best tech, but several car reviewers around the world have praised Kia's handling and ride quality. Bonus pa na ang gganda ng models nla kahit minsan halogen lng ung ilagay or walang sunroof. Join Kia car groups in FB. They are small groups compared to the top selling brands in the PH pero consistent na happy owners sila ng Kia. Go Kia!
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting as a 7 seater with the ceiling mounted dual (or triple) AC
ReplyDeleteKia China won't be producing nor selling the LWB version of the Sonet as its been a flop in Indonesia and India
DeleteDon't you hate it when a brand suddenly orphans owners of a model?
ReplyDeleteLike the Mobilio, Lancer, Eon, i10, Pajero, Sentra, Crosswind, Revo Adventure, Echo, Rio, Pride, Ciaz, SX4, Kizashi, Legacy, all victims of changing tastes or regulations. Some brands are just faster in this than others.
DeleteKia Korea isn't gonna produce a succesor to the Stonic that's why Kia China ended the production of it and focused instead of producing the China-spec Kia Sonet meant for China and Philippine markets.
