Are seven seats too much and four seats too little for your Lexus LM? Well, you’re in luck because the Japanese premium brand has just toed the line with the introduction of a new 6-seater variant which seems to combine the best aspects of both the 7- and 4-seater versions.
Just introduced in Japan, the 6-seater Lexus LM (aka Executive L) is based off the JDM Executive variant. Now, before you go thinking that the “L” here means “Long,” the carmaker didn’t make any modifications to the exterior dimensions. This means that the Lexus LM Executive L keeps the same 5,125 mm length, 1,890 mm width, and 3,000 mm wheelbase.
However, inside, Lexus has made a variety of changes. Chief among them is the addition of a third-row to the Executive variant. The carmaker says they quickly realized that some customers were looking to ferry more people without much compromise to the first-class comfort, refinement, and features found in the 4-seater variant. Lexus says that the 6-seater version has been optimally packaged so that every seat has the same level of plushness. In fact, they are constructed using a new type of shock absorbing material that suppresses seat shaking when going over bumps. Of course, those in the second row enjoy captain’s seats complete with a touch-based multi-operation panel and a 480-mm fore-and-aft sliding function. The overhead console has been tweaked to make it easily accessible even to those in the third-row.
Adding functionally, a second seat control switch has been added by the rear back door. This allows owners to slide or recline the second-row seats from the cargo compartment easily in case they need to increase the luggage space.
The Lexus LM Executive L also has “Rear Climate Concierge” which optimally regulates the interior temperature using not just the climate control, but the sunshades as well while taking into consideration the occupant positions and exterior lighting conditions.
Despite adding a third-row the Lexus LM Executive L manages to continue with a rear entertainment system with a 14-inch display and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.
The Lexus LM500h Executive L is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid. The powertrain, shared with the top-of-the-line Lexus RX, produces a combined 349 horsepower output and 460 Nm of torque mated to an all-wheel drive system and a 6-speed automatic.
