5 Things Filipino Families Love With The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid

Suzuki has a proven reputation of making small and economic cars. And while the Suzuki Ertiga isn’t exactly small, it should be on the list of Filipino families thanks to its combination of style, functionality, and of course, fuel efficiency.

Here are the Top 5 things we love about the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid 7-seater MPV.

1. Stylish Exterior

The new Ertiga Hybrid has a clean design that sticks to the fundamentals of what it takes to be a practical MPV.

With that, the Ertiga Hybrid comes with a new front grille design and a new tailgate layout that boasts the three-dimensional rear lamps.

For the top-of-the-line GLX variant, there are power folding sideview mirrors with signal lamps and polished 15-inch alloy wheels.

2. Fuel Efficiency

The trusty 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline K15B engine is paired together with the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki or SHVS to make the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid a very fuel-efficient vehicle.

How fuel efficient?

The new Ertiga Hybrid is 7.6 percent more efficient versus the non-hybrid version. This means being able to stretch a full tank to around 1,060 kilometers based on highway driving figures done during an AAP-certified Fuel Test Run.

The secret is down to the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki or SHVS. Sounds complicated? Here’s what you need to remember: it’s a mild hybrid setup that pairs their tried-and-tested 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an Integrated Starter Generator or ISG. It also has a small 12-volt lithium-ion battery so compact, it fits under the driver’s seat.

Compared to other hybrids, this setup is ingenious in that it’s lightweight and doesn’t require much re-adjustment. There are no switchable modes, or sci-fi looking controls. It’s the very same Ertiga driving experience you’ve come to know.

At stops, the Ertiga Hybrid will turn its engine off and will rely on charge stored in the battery to power all its electricals. As it moves, the ISG acts as an electric motor providing an assist to boost its acceleration. As you slow down, it captures energy to charge the batteries.

And compared to other hybrid setups, the Ertiga Hybrid is available in both manual and automatic guises as well.

3. Practical Interior

It’s easy for an MPV to be a 7-seater, but the new Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid takes it to the next level by being easy to configure, whether your next task is to bring your family and friends to your road trip, or to carry bulky items for work or your business.

For those who like numbers, the rear luggage area has a total capacity of 199 liters with the third-row seats up, but grows even more if you fold them down. In fact, flip down the second-row, and you get a continuously flat cargo hold that has a capacity of 803 liters.

More than just space, the Ertiga features a smartly designed cabin that mixes form and function.

The driver has a D-shaped steering wheel with integrated controls for both the audio system and cruise control.

Right smack in front, there’s also a new meter cluster with a 4.2-inch multi-information display that provides a wealth of information including the hybrid’s operation.

Keeping everyone comfy, an automatic climate control at the front, and a rear blower for the back.

And our personal favorites? The convenience of a keyless push-start and the ventilated cup holders.

4. 10-inch Infotainment Screen

With the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid, it comes with a 10-inch Infotainment Touchscreen that features sharp, easy-to-read graphics. It also has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it safe and convenient to use your smartphone.

5. Safety

What you don’t see is that the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid Hybrid is one of the safest MPVs out there thanks to its HEARTECT Platform, that is lighter and more efficient, comfier, and is able to disperse collision energy better to keep everyone inside safe.

Its safety goes beyond its platform. It comes with dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and Electronic Stability Program or ESP.

If wheel slip is detected, ESP will regulate engine output and will even selectively apply the brakes to help drivers maintain control.

For those who’re not too confident with their parking skills, the Ertiga Hybrid, in GL and GLX guise, come with rear parking sensors. The GLX even adds a rear camera as well.

Cleverly designed, flexible, and fuel efficient, the Ertiga Hybrid ticks the right boxes when it comes to family-friendly rides.

The best part? Thanks to its clever SHVS system, it makes electrification a truly mainstream option for Filipino families. This makes the new Ertiga Hybrid is a smart choice for your next MPV.
