Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has quietly launched the refreshed Montero Sport around three months after its world debut in Thailand. The 2024 refresh is expected to be the current-generation 7-seater SUV’s last before it switches to an all-new design in a couple of years.
The 2024 Montero Sport gets a new grille. The trademark Dynamic Shield design now sports a sawtooth pattern like the current Xpander Cross as well as new headlights—halogens on the GLX 2WD MT and LEDs on the GLS 2WD AT, and Black Series 2WD and 4WD variants. The bumpers, front and rear are also new, while at each corner, the 18-inch alloy wheels now have a turbine-like design. Oh, and speaking about the Black Series, it’s differentiated by its gloss black accents found on the grille (also illuminated), under garnish, wheels, roof, and roof rails.
Across the board, the steering wheel is of a new design, but the GLX 2WD and GLS 2WD AT continue with their analog gauge cluster. Only the Black Series variants get the sharper 8-inch colored LCD cluster with updated graphics.
Differentiating the variants, the GLX 2WD MT receives a smaller infotainment screen (7-inch versus 8-inch) and no 360-degee camera. Both non-Black Series variants also have manual seats, a manual tailgate, and a single-zone climate control system with a rear cooler. The base GLX 2WD MT also has less airbags (2 versus 6), a hand-type parking brake, and a traditional twist key ignition system too.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Black Series models get dual zone climate control with nanoe X air cleaning tech, a 220-volt power inverter, 8-way power seats for the front occupants, two-tone synthetic heat-reflecting leather seats in black and brown, and Mitsubishi’s ADAS suite. The Black Series 4WD is the only variant to get a sunroof.
Powering the Montero Sport remains a Euro 4 compliant 2.4-liter 4N15 with 181 horsepower and 430 Nm. The GLX 2WD MT has a 6-speed manual, while other models have an 8-speed automatic. Paddle shifters are standard on all AT variants.
For 2024, there are only four variants of the Montero Sport available at the following prices:
- 2024 Montero Sport GLX 2WD MT – P 1,568,000
- 2024 Montero Sport GLS 2WD AT – P 1,899,000
- 2024 Montero Sport Black Series 2WD AT – P 2,162,000
- 2024 Montero Sport Black Series 4WD AT – P 2,502,000
At first glance, the GLX is unforgiveably under-equipped in today's time with just halogen lights, 2 airbags, no tc or esc, twist key system, etc when no other PPV does these anymore. However, when I learned that you could get these at 200k discount, it all makes sense. It basically competes with the diesel Innova at that price, just with different qualities being an SUV.
ReplyDeleteAuto headlights and auto wipers are standard on basically all of its competitors regardless of variant, but for some reason Mitsubishi insists on only having this only for the TOTL 4x4

DeleteAccording to my dealer, only the GLX comes with halogen lights. The rest have full LEDs. The GLS also comes with paddle shifters, it is not exclusive to the black series models.
DeleteOther spec changes to the GLS: it also gets all black leather seats with power adjustment for the driver, while the GLX and the previous GLS only came with cloth manual seats. However, the AC IS downgraded to single zone auto climate control instead of the dual zone unit of the previous GLS.
Again, we've got to wait for official info (if ever) from MMPC. Right now, they haven't changed any info on their website as of writing.
DeleteSo with these low end features we can now put the old Innova as the direct competitor of montero. All other ppvs have moved forward the montero going backwards. Maybe uly you can have a comparison of montero vs Innova vs adventure vs sportivo

ReplyDeleteIt's okay not to equip with the new 4in16 biturbo yet but atleast with a single turbo of the new triton coz it's more efficient than 4in15 and not fuel sensitive compared to the biturbo which requires euro 5 compliant.

Are we not suppose to help the environment by offering models that can curb excessive use of oil? C'mon I know we need to have profits but where is our responsibility to the climate ,to our children?? PLEASE OFFER more hybrid/electric models. Stop making Philippines a dumping ground of all that is ICE! Remember the govt has already given the hybrid the 30 percent tax free incentive.. please be more eco-friendly!!

DeleteIf Mitsubishi just refreshed the Montero Sport, when is the all-new version coming out? I believe the new Toyota Fortuner is coming out in 2025-2026.
