MG Reveals All-New 2025 HS Compact SUV

Part of MG’s centennial celebration at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom, the brand launched the all-new MG HS gas and PHEV variants. The compact SUV comes with an extensive array of new features, increased cabin space, and enhanced styling all while keeping its value positioning.

The 2025 MG HS comes with two powerplant choices. The gas variant is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder putting out 169 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque. This is mated either to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed wet-type dual clutch. Zero to 100 km/h is quoted at 9.4 seconds.

Meanwhile, the PHEV pairs a 142-horsepower 1.5-liter engine with a 209 horsepower (154 kW) electric motor. The motor draws power from a 24.7-kWh battery and a 91 horsepower (67 kW) generator to deliver an electric-only driving range of 121 kilometers (75 miles).

The new MG HS ushers in a more sophisticated appearance, with a longer wheelbase for greater spaciousness inside the cabin and refined exterior proportions with shorter overhangs, a rising shoulder line and a slim glasshouse.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new MG HS is 14 mm wider at 1,890 mm and 45 mm longer at 4,655 mm (4,670mm for PHEV models), yet its sleek new profile reduces its overall height by some 30 mm. The wheelbase has been lengthened by 45 mm to 2,765 mm, creating a more athletic silhouette and enhancing interior space.

The front grille carries the latest generation MG design language, as first seen on the new MG3, while new, slimmer headlights bring a more technological theme to the SUV, connected by a central black panel that emphasizes the new car’s width. At the rear, and echoing the design of the headlights, the LED taillights are linked by a central motif while an X-shape introduces a recognizable light signature at night.

Inside, the MG HS is functional yet contemporary. Throughout the interior, new quality materials with premium highlights create a more welcoming and relaxing ambiance, reinforced by a new-style three-spoke steering wheel, improved switchgear, and a “shuttle-style” gear shifter. A wider cabin offers a greater feeling of space, while the cargo hold has been stretched by 44 liters to 507 liters.

The technology offering has evolved with the HS featuring two prominent 12.3-inch high-definition displays. Features include a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone charging, and a full suite of MG Pilot—the brand’s ADAS.

The all-new MG HS goes on sale in Europe starting end of this month.
