Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the country has quietly introduced the updated version of the Subaru BRZ along with a corresponding price increase not just for the rear-wheel drive sportscar, but the WRX and Outback as well.
Starting this month, the Subaru BRZ now comes equipped with the latest Subaru EyeSight 4.0 ADAS system as standard, even for the manual transmission model. The stereo camera-based safety system adds functionalities such as lane departure warning with lane keep assist, pre-collision braking with intersection support, pre-collision throttle management, and adaptive cruise control with lane centering. This is on top of the Subaru BRZ’s already long list of safety equipment such as blind spot indicators, lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert.
The added EyeSight system (or upgrade in the case of the Subaru BRZ AT) corresponds to a slight adjustment to the Subaru BRZ’s prices. Its suggested retail price is up P 70,000 to P 2,619,000 for the manual transmission. Meanwhile, the jump from EyeSight 3.0 to EyeSight 4.0 in the automatic transmission variant means its SRP is up P 70,000 to P 2,719,000.
The Subaru BRZ’s not the only one affected by price adjustments this month. The Outback 2.5i-Touring (the non-turbo) is now priced at P 2,580,000—an increase of P 80,000 from before. The recently-launched Outback XT keeps its price, for now, at P 2,880,000.
There’s some bad news for those considering a WRX starting this month. The turbocharged sports sedan gets a nudge up in terms of SRP regardless of transmission or body style. Shockingly, the “tS” or Tuned by STI variant has now breached the P 3-million mark putting this precariously close to more performance-oriented offerings like the Honda Civic Type R.
Here’s how the WRX family looks like right now:
- Subaru WRX MT – P 2,788,000 (+ P 180,000)
- Subaru WRX EyeSight AT – P 2,888,000 (+ P 130,000)
- Subaru WRX tS EyeSight AT – P 3,168,000 (+ P 130,000)
- Subaru WRX Wagon EyeSight AT – P 2,880,000 (+ P 222,000)
- Subaru WRX Wagon tS EyeSight AT – P 3,038,000 (+ P 60,000)
That's right after an announcement of profit dropped eh? Ow kaye!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't know what's gonna happen to Subaru Ph.
DeleteDon’t worry discounts are just around the corner!
ReplyDeleteyeah Subaru is having a party the higher prices the better,
ReplyDeletePriced not to sell haha. As gravity works its wonders expect the prices to fall via massive discounts few months later.
ReplyDeleteThat is what a seller typically do when they don't want to sell to you, quote a very high price. You can keep your cars Subaru, we don't want your overpriced cars either, we have lots of better options.
ReplyDeleteWhat other options though?
